@CaitlinGoldblum I think lack of funding is a large reason as to why VR has not become more mainstreamed in education. I am hopeful that one day in the near future technological advances make VR accessible to all learners. #EDU6323
@KcookEdu6323 I think VR is such a great way to promote knowledge transfer. VR will allow "hands on" experience from just about anywhere. I hope to see VR utilized more in learning environments in the future! #EDU6323
I agree with Kelly - immersion is the next phase. As technology continues to evolve, I think an immersive environment will allow for the best learning experiences. I'm hopeful that in sooner than later, immersive technologies will be available to all learners. #EDU6323
I'm hopeful that in the near future, VR won't be so expensive to implement into the classroom. It could bring the in-person classroom experience to the homes of many students. What an impact that could have on the remote learning environment! #EDU6323
@CaitlinGoldblum I think you are using polls in such a great way! A sense of community is so important in a class & allowing students to gauge their learning is so beneficial to students. Plus, I'm sure it helps you when assessing the class itself!
@SpiehlerWhitney I remember this! When I attended GWU we used clickers for attendance and to answer questions presented in a 300 person class. I can't say we didn't have a rotation where one person brought 5 clickers to class so only one of us had to suffer through econ class. #EDU6323
@NeeveMacG I agree with you - you cannot assume everyone has access to a smartphone or tablet. I also find an issue in the number of students that access a remote class via phone or tablet so they can't interact in the activities that require a second device. #EDU6323
Never realized how the Numa song (a song I know all the words to) spread the way it did. This viral video spreading built a connection, much like collaboration. Creates a community among like-minded individuals. An interesting way to view collaboration & connection. #EDU6323
#EDU6323 watching Kellyโs video the idea of sharing immediately made me think of collaboration in education. Using โcollabโ sites like Wikis allow for sharing and collaboration to build a better learning experience in education.
I rowed competitively for years so I decided to Wikipedia search the sport. Everything I read matched what I know from years of experience & I learned some history facts. Experts on topics should have a place like Wiki to share their knowledge! #EDU6323 https://t.co/AMoKXX7uzx
I am, and always have been, pro-Wikipedia. I always hated that teachers wouldn't let you use it, but I often would scroll to the bottom of a Wiki page to get resources I could use. Such a great way to get a quick overview and external links for further info. #EDU6323
@nms_elearning I am a big "planner" and think the structure/formality of using an LMS is necessary for an online course. I think using social media would be unorganized as a replacement for an LMS. I'm sure someone out there would disagree with me though. #EDU6323
@EmilyAHopkins I am in a similar boat as you. I think social media is a great supplement to the formal LMS learning, like we use in #EDU6323 For me though, I am a Twitter novice so I don't quite have that automaticity as I might have with Facebook.
@c_mattimore I'm new to RSS too! I am excited to keep adding things to my feed and exploring! Much easier to have information I find interesting make it's way to me rather than searching for it myself! #EDU6323
Much prefer LMS over social media sites. Less distractions, better organization, ability for deadlines and reminders, and much more. But social media has its advantages too. Social media integration in an LMS is the best of both worlds. #EDU6323

New to RSS but got @feederco this week. Found a bunch of feeds to add and getting a ton of new info I can use personally and professionally. Closest I had before was subscription emails that usually were deleted very quickly! #EDU6323
I tend to bookmark websites that I will need to go back to. I think I have tried "anti-social" bookmarking where I keep a website tab open in my phone to remind me that I found something interesting. Social bookmarking seems like a great educational tool I should try! #EDU6323
Never thought about the fact that people make the algorithms, they don't just appear. It makes sense that there could be some bias in the algorithms used in search engines. I will have to start analyzing my searches more. #EDU6323
@EmilyAHopkins Wow! Crazy to see how Google controls the market share of internet searches. Ask Jeeves was my favorite search engine growing up. Sad to see Jeeves didn't make the list! LOL
I must admit, I am one of the people that clicks on one of the first links in Google when I search. When searching for a restaurant's menu, it's that simple. When searching for educational info I should take more time to review the facts. #EDU6323
