My latest for @TheEconomist: AI writing is taking over politics.
10% of what was is said in Parliament is now AI-drafted, per Pangram. Yet more in the House of Representatives, or in Australia and Canada.

Ran @pangram on a few thousand @Substack posts. The people who disable the feature on avg have higher AI use. Thank you @max_spero_ and @chrisbest for the feature.
Inspired by @TuhinChakr's analysis on books.

๐จ New paper on AI and Copyright ๐จ
It's easy to dismiss AI-written books ๐ as slop nobody buys. So, armed with full-text AI detection from @pangram, we studied self-published genre fiction books sold on Amazon from 2023 to 2026 March
Turns out Amazon is flooded with books with substantial AI text and these books are earning significant ๐ฐ๐ธ and most importantly, crowding out sales of non-AI books.
FWIW, a book doesn't need to be high quality to have a market impact. It just has to exist in the thousands, which Generative AI enables.
