😥 Very sad to hear about the recent passing of one of my longtime heroes, Prof. Dimitri P. Bertsekas @DBertsekas - his work and dedication will remain to be inspiring, I’m grateful for his work, books, and many lectures available online for all.
🙏🏼RIP

A new milestone for humankind: The crew of Artemis II are now the farthest any human has ever travelled, reaching a maximum distance of 252,752 miles from Earth.
This surpasses the previous record set by Apollo 13 in 1970 by about 4,102 miles.
🛰️ The Orion spacecraft spreads its wings.
☀️ The four solar arrays on the European Service Module unfolded like a concertina.
🔋 They are starting to collect photons from the Sun to turn them into electricity for the Moon trip.
Check out our #ForwardToTheMoon media kit, covering the #Artemis II mission step by step: launch, Earth orbits, translunar injection, lunar flyby and return, highlighting Europe’s role at every stage.

We're going around the Moon. Come watch with us. Artemis II's four-astronaut crew is lifting off from @NASAKennedy on an approximately 10-day mission that will bring us closer to living on the Moon and Mars. The launch window opens at 6:24pm ET (2224 UTC). https://t.co/X27QJejNDt
Don’t miss this chance to turn your control engineering skills into real impact in the space sector. Form a team, dive into the benchmark, and aim for that “last click” — the winning solution!
We look forward to seeing your innovative approaches in Sevilla!

We're launching the European Student Robotics Association (ESRA, @esra_robotics) (13 universities, 8 countries, 2.5k+ members)!
We’re young, driven and together we’re tackling the European fragmentation problem heads on.
Who are we?
- ETH Robotics Club (Zürich) @ethroboticsclub
- RoboTUM (Münich)
- EPFL AI Team (Lausanne) @epflaiteam
- Unaite (Paris)
- Team Polar (Eindhoven)
- TU Wien Robotics Club (Vienna)
- Robotics Collective (Aachen) @robocollectiv
- KTH AI Society (Stockholm) @KTHAISociety
- Delft Robotics Student Association
- KN CybAiR (Poznan)
- AEA Polimi (Milan)
What do we do?
→ Pan-European robotics competitions
→ Cross-border technical project collaborations
→ Coordinated access to funding opportunities across Europe
And this is just the beginning!
Thanks @andreasklinger, @lukas_m_ziegler and @IlirAliu_ for helping us spread the word :)
Space debris is a growing problem and the danger goes beyond direct hits. During a spacewalk you can see just how many times the Space Station has been hit by debris, which is especially problematic on the handrails. Spacewalkers are told to avoid touching any handrail that has visibly been struck because the uneven surface could easily tear a hole in your glove - creating a very serious situation. The threat of space debris is something we all agree on, but have yet figured out how to truly solve.
The @NASAArtemis II mission will use Goddard's Near Space Network during launch, early orbit, re-entry, and splashdown! Learn more about how NASA's two networks work in tandem.

58 years after Apollo 8’s historic trip around the Moon, NASA is heading back. This time, our crew is going farther into space than any human in history.
Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen will embark on a ten-day mission around the Moon, marking America’s grand return to the lunar environment.
Artemis II marks the beginning of the boldest series of missions the world has ever seen. Through the Artemis campaign, we will maintain American superiority in space, land American astronauts on the Moon, and establish a lunar base all before the end of 2028.
Godspeed Artemis II 🇺🇸
22.1 billion euros subscribed.
A record.
A first.
And a clear message that Europe is serious about space and that @ESA is the agency it trusts to deliver.
A historic Ministerial. A united Europe. A stronger ESA.
