Captain Smit Machchhar, the Indian captain of flydubai Flight 1073, fought back after being stabbed in the cockpit.
Despite being severely injured, he managed to unlock the cockpit door - allowing Israeli passengers and the Emirati crew to intervene and save all the passengers.
Together, their extraordinary courage saved 174 lives.
Indian. Israeli. Emirati.

@LoveMy7Wood@DouglasKMurray Important to remember that the first and most important hero of this story is the Hindu Indian pilot who fought against his attacker and still managed to open the cockpit door, allowing the recovery and safe landing of the Boeing aircraft to occur.
@rumel_dahiya@ChavivaShira_74@AnitaAnandMP The Indian captain is the first and most important hero of this story. I look forward to him telling the world how this story all unfolded.
@latajag@ChavivaShira_74@AnitaAnandMP The Indian pilot is a hero. He will receive many awards. From Israel, India and many other countries for his bravery and professionalism in extremely dangerous circumstances.
@MarkMazurik@scottiebateman@flydubai Very preliminary, but I read that when an airframe is exposed to such extreme forces, it is unlikely to fly again. Engines and other parts could be reused though.
