Tree plantation is an important step towards restoring groundwater, revitalizing rivers, and improving soil health.
Such initiatives aimed at increasing green cover and revitalizing soil are the need of the hour.
@APDeputyCMO#SaveSoil#RallyForRivers
This is a meme, not a diagnosis!
But it's a fact that soil revitalization is among the most crucial things we need to do as a generation to leave a better planet for the future.

Drought poses a significant threat to global agriculture, causing substantial economic losses to farmers. It disrupts food production, resulting in substantial nutritional deficits.
Enhancing soil organic matter increases soil's capacity to retain water, thereby decreasing the severity of droughts.

Like any other biological system, living soils operate in a delicate balance and are susceptible to “death.” Unsustainable industrial farming methods upset this equilibrium, which results in unhealthy soil.
Degraded soils are subject to erosion, removing the productive topsoil layer and becoming less effective. This vicious cycle can be broken by improving the percentage of soil organic matter in the soil.
Soil organic matter refers to the organic components present in the soil, such as decaying plant and animal residues, humus, and living organisms. Increasing the percentage of soil organic matter in the soil can help improve soil structure, water-holding capacity, nutrient availability, and overall soil health, thereby breaking the cycle of soil degradation.

Carbon credits are a key component of national and global attempts to mitigate the growth in concentrations of greenhouse gasses (GHGs).
The basic idea behind carbon credits is to use market mechanisms to control emissions. Carbon credits can be bought and sold on carbon markets, and this trading helps to set a price on carbon.
The carbon credit system was established under the Kyoto Protocol and is now a key component of many emissions trading schemes around the world. By putting a price on carbon, the system aims to encourage the transition to a low-carbon economy and help mitigate the impacts of climate change, effectively making it more expensive to pollute.

Here is a tour of the Save Soil stand at the Glastonbury Festival!
Visitors to the stand wrote letters to their members of parliament and got themselves Save Soil henna tattoos and face paint. They also had a crack at a football tricks challenge and took home plant seeds for their gardens.
The Glastonbury Festival is one of the largest music and performing arts festivals in the world. In addition to contemporary music, the festival hosts dance, comedy, theatre, circus, and other arts.

Congratulations to the farmers and all striving to establish a new trajectory for agriculture- one that is economically lucrative and ecologically sustainable. To #SaveSoil, increase farmer income, enhance the nutritive value of food and ensure food & water security, tree-based farming is the way forward. Let’s make it happen. -Sg #CauveryCalling @cpsavesoil
This month, the Save Soil Movement joined forces with Kiss the Ground’s Regenerate America, a coalition of farmers, businesses, and nonprofits to deliver a petition with 30,000 signatures to support regenerative agriculture in the 2024 Farm Bill.

Wonderful to see women and children of Rajasthan coming out in such a large number for the wellbeing of the planet on this World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. Rajasthan has done pioneering work in reversing desertification and drought in the state and continues to set a shining example for the rest of the nation. Congratulations and Blessings. -Sg #SaveSoil
.@G7 has concluded with migration as a key issue, especially from Africa. It is a step in the right direction to acknowledge the lack of livelihood opportunities in migrants' homelands, where a large percentage of the population relies on farming. As soil degradation and desertification take their toll, reviving millet cultivation with tree-based agriculture is a long-term solution. Millet ensures basic nourishment, while trees are standing wealth on the land – an incentive for people to not leave their homelands. This can be a game-changer for large-scale migration from Africa. Let us make it happen. –Sg #SaveSoil

The army has a tall order in keeping the nation and its citizens safe. But pulling together new 17-year-old recruits so they function as one unit - to live together and if need be, die together - is no mean feat either. Lieutenant General SK Upadhya talks about the culture that the army drills and instills in every soldier to make this happen.
