I once had an interview with Azeem when I was looking for my first job.
I was young, excited, wanting to become a writer.
East India Comedy used to work from a 3-BHK at the time. Sahil Shah had helped me land the interview.
Azeem looks at my CV and the first thing he tells me is - "I have blocked you on Twitter."
I thought it was a strange way to begin an interview. I had never interacted with him on Twitter. We never had even an exchange or any conversation.
So he opens my profile on his laptop, unblocks me (so he can access the Tweets) and then scrolls down and reads a few tweets till he finds one particular tweet and says - "Ah yes, it was this one."
AIB at that time had made a video where they made jokes on cows / gaumutra in the sketch. I had put out a tweet stating that it was easy for comics to make jokes on Hinduism but I've never seen them take such liberty with other religions / faiths / beliefs. And that they were not equal opportunity offenders.
I was asked to 'explain' this tweet. And so I did. And it led to a discussion and argument for over 10 minutes, where I was repeatedly told I was wrong, after which the interview ended. I had applied to be a 'writer' and I was asked nothing about it - what I had written, what I wanted to write, my skillsets and so no. Nothing.
I was too young to be confident or have strong self belief, and I walked out thinking maybe I shouldn't have put out that tweet - it cost me this job.
What I found strange even back then, was that a person much senior to me in the profession, would be fixated on some tweet, and was not open to another opinion or point-of-view that was different from his.
Surely, it would help to have people with different views writing for a news satire show?
I was naive.
The goal is never diversity of thought or opinion.
The view or angle is always pre-decided. All they need is people to further it.
🚨 TODD BEAMER, UNITED 93 PHONE CALL: "LET'S ROLL" 🇺🇸
Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked.
Lisa: I understand. Can they see you?
Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake.
Lisa: Your name?
Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.
Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor.
Lisa: Are you okay?
Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again.
Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true?
Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan.
Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call.
Lisa: I promise.
Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy.
Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.)
Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol.
Todd: I understand. I’ll be back.
Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot.
Lisa: What are you going to do?
Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out.
Todd: Would you pray with me? [They pray the Lord’s Prayer.] Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.
Todd: God help me. Jesus help me. Are you guys ready? Let’s Roll.

Minutes before India-Aus game, Savita and Bichu were visited by Caroline, wife of the late Simon Zijp. Zijp was coaching them last year, until his untimely passing.
Savita: “She took time out to come meet us, despite it being a very tough time for her"

2 yrs ago, 🇮🇳 women’s 🏑 team did not qualify for Paris 2024. 1 yr ago, team was in internal turmoil.
2 months ago, we won the Nations Cup. At the FIH World Cup, we drew with Chi, Eng & Aus, all higher ranked than us. Only loss to World No. 1 Holland. Good strong progress
Dear pathetic team @zomatocare , by what means are the attached images not clear of the issue. I have received a order from what was ordered. Bill image, food image and the package image have been duly shared. Check your DM and let me know.
Apparently winning against Pakistan is only what we care for. England should have been a must win game, knowing how the next group would stack up. For India, only world cup should matter in Hockey. We won against World no 12 and 16, lost against World no 1, 4 and 7.
Don’t worry… the World Cup doesn’t matter. 🤡
The Asian Games are coming. Win a medal 🥇 there, and then we can start dreaming about LA 2028. Apparently, that’s enough to cover everything that went wrong at the World Cup.
Women’s chief coach on holiday just before the World Cup — and the girls still fought their hearts out and exceeded expectations. Credit to the players. But where is the accountability? Do we really expect a team to perform at its best when the chief coach is away during the final phase of preparation?
Men’s team loses to a top team → “It’s a learning experience.” Beats an Asian team → “Great victory.” Plays good hockey → “Good performance.”
But here’s the uncomfortable question:
Are we building a team to PLAY good hockey, or a team capable of WINNING against the best in the world?
Stop hiding behind “learning”, “good hockey” and future tournaments.
The World Cup is not a rehearsal. It is the World Cup.😎
So who is going to ask the difficult questions? Who is going to demand accountability? And most importantly…
Does anyone actually care?
The tender for 5 AMCA prototype itself got delayed by 2-3 months. This program directly needs to come under the @PMOIndia , as earlier stated by @Iyervval
“[On AMCA] I’m not seeing the program side changes that give me any confidence. Everything seems very ad-hoc. No pressure to act… no engine roadmap…”
@zone5aviation on #CtrlAltDefence has triggered a whole thing 😮💨
🎙️Episode 53: https://t.co/iyYLaxauPj
I can understand the rivalry, but lets not make a fuss of it. We lost 4-2 to England and missed potentially topping the group. Netherlands are next, which will most likely be India’s last game at the World cup.
We remain so obsessed with cricket we risk overlooking the hockey equation.
India’s 5-3 in Amstelveen completes a decade of complete hockey domination over Pakistan. Undefeated, with 21 games won and two draws.
A better way to understand this is the total goals scored for and against in these 23 games.
India scored 92 against Pakistan’s 33. We’ve seen many tennis score wins, 7-1 in FIH Pro League, 10-2 in Hangzhou (2023) Asian Games, 6-1 and 7-1 in FIH World League, London (2017).
And of course the 5-3 at Amstelveen.
Why does @OfficialPMRDA wake up only when issues get escalated all the way to @CMOMaharashtra?
Will they wait again (along with other agencies) to address long pending and discussed Hinjawadi issues?
Something wrong with the process here...🤔
Too many agencies with no clear accountability? Or just lack of execution by assigned agencies?
