Today my daughter’s school bus took 2 hours to travel just 2 km in Varthur/Gunjur road.

For those 2 hours, I sat there as a parent feeling completely helpless.

I work hard. My wife and I pay lakhs in taxes every month. We took a huge home loan mainly so we could live close to our daughter’s school and give her a safer, easier childhood.

And yet, this is what “2 km from school” means here.

In the last year alone, we have seen a school bus topple, a woman suffer serious injuries after a fall, a biker almost lost his life after falling because of a pothole, and many more incidents that never become headlines.

Every day, ordinary people here tweet, email, complain, follow up and plead with authorities.

We are not activists.
We are not fighting for a political party.
We are parents, employees, families and taxpayers asking for one basic thing:

Please give our children a safe road to come home on.

Today, more than the traffic, what broke me was the feeling that despite doing everything a responsible citizen is supposed to do, I had absolutely no power to protect my own child.

If anyone knows how ordinary citizens of Varthur/Gunjur can reach someone with the authority to actually intervene, please help us.

Wrote a letter to our WRD minister @RLR_BTM Highlighting two issues

1) About non availability of 40-50% rainfall stations Data in KWRIS website

2) Non payment of Honorarium to Rainfall readers for last 1/2 years & enhance the rainfall network with good maintenance of Rain gauges.

We can now access almost 500 stations in KWRIS website out of 1073 stations.

Remaining ones have issues wrt to Network , Non payment for Readers & Maintenance.

Have put several grievances to WRD , hopefully they will solve the same in coming days.

This is not a result of merely Ethanol blend. Petrol and Ethanol should ideally mix well together.

The phenomenon we see in the picture below is result of water absorption by the Ethanol leading to phase separation.

The entire storage, transport and dispensation of E20 petrol should ensure there is no moisture which can contaminate the fuel leading to phase separation.

My guess is the current mechanisms we have to distribute normal petrol does not have these safeguards. Petrol being hydrophobic will not absorb any moisture.

While the entire focus is on E20 compatibility of vehicles, the Government has not assessed whether the entire supply chain is equipped to handle E20 distribution without any water contamination.
