" “He was a total gentleman,” Mr. Trump said of Mr. Xi, whom he visited in China last month. “He didn’t send a tanker, along with 20 destroyers on each side of it, to try and break up the blockade,’’ an act that would have put the Chinese and American navies into potential conflict." https://t.co/bvB7AaSalH
“We cannot become powerful in isolation from each other. Technology, education, health and sports are areas where we can work together and beat the world,” Mr. Trivedi said, urging the media in Bangladesh to project the combined strength of the populations of India and Bangladesh." https://t.co/O3TJOgOkCY
"The military adviser serves as the critical bridge between the armed forces and the country’s apex national security decision-making structure, the NSCS. Ghai will succeed General N.S. Raja Subramani, who is now the new Chief of Defence Staff." https://t.co/9LTZvHUgtG
The EU-India FTA comes at a critical juncture for both economies, offering an opportunity to deepen economic cooperation amid growing global uncertainty and shifting trade relationships. By reducing barriers to goods and services, the agreement can help the EU diversify its partnerships and strengthen its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets, while enabling India to expand exports, attract investment, upgrade its industries and integrate more deeply into global value chains.
The analysis shows that the FTA’s potential lies in how it addresses complementary needs on both sides. For the EU, the agreement offers a chance to regain ground in the Indian market, particularly in high-value-added sectors where tariffs have limited commercial viability. For India, it offers an opportunity to improve competitiveness in the EU market, especially in labour-intensive and MSME-linked sectors where preference disadvantages have constrained export growth. At the same time, the agreement reflects the broader shift in EU-India trade, which is no longer limited to traditional goods but increasingly shaped by high-value-added goods and services.
The agreement offers a combination of scale, complementarity and unrealised potential, providing a clear framework for building a more balanced, diversified and commercially meaningful EU-India economic partnership.

“Everyone involved in the preparations for the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting, held in Delhi on 14–15 May, knew that this conference of the expanded forum would be difficult and complex. Why? Because three of its members are parties to the ongoing conflict in West Asia: Saudi Arabia and the UAE on the side of the US and Israel, and Iran as their common opponent.” – writes Amb. “If Iran continues to levy tolls on every ship that traverses the Strait of Hormuz, it raises the question of whether countries in the IOR, which are adjacent to narrow sea routes, should also reciprocate by levying a similar fee on all ships calling at Iranian ports. While the IOR countries have not formally articulated such a policy, Iran’s tactics have sparked considerable discussion about freedom of navigation.”

“The US blockade of vessels transiting in and out of Iranian ports seems to be far more complicated than many earlier blockades, given the strategic situation, Iran’s continued ability to strike USN units and merchant ships of countries it considers inimical to its interests, and the geography of the Strait of Hormuz…..It seems more likely that it could be part of a US strategy to turn the tables on Iran by turning its strength (control of the Strait of Hormuz) into a liability and making it difficult for Iran to continue to be seen as the victim of US aggression, especially when it causes severe supply-chain distress for many major countries.”

"Amid waivers, at least two supertankers carrying #Iranian#crude reached #Indian ports, marking the first such deliveries in nearly seven years.
