@Seawolfcap I focus on CFO open market purchases, they’re always the most pessimistic and they are most familiar with the numbers. There are a few academic studies that back this up.
@gas_biz There’s a station in my neighborhood that charges $1-2 dollars over stations nearby. Right now they’re at $6.99 (California). I see people filling there, not super busy but consistent. Is this a business?
@hendry_hugh We launched our hedge fund in the spring of 09, bought RMBS/CMBS/ABS, grew it to $5bn. The opportunity this time will be in buying stressed/distressed CRE loans from banks and insurers, and in buying fairly senior tranches of CMBS at pennies. Typical baby vs bathwater analysis.
@TaxSaleGuy We raised a fund 1, small, I think it was $30mm to buy foreclosures in FL in 2009. Didn’t scale that well. So funds 2-5 are multi-family, our last fund was $280mm. So try to find a larger, adjacent strategy. The foreclosures are coming again soon!
@AladinKumar1@ashleevance@ByrneHobart 100%. People don’t realize what a crazy instrument these are. Long duration, negatively convex, they’re a handful to risk manage
@Erban_legend_ My mortgage has become my asset and my house is now the liability. I haven't calculated the current market value of my mortgage but I would imagine it should trade around $78.
