இது போன்று பேசும் திமுகவினரின் நாகரீகமற்ற, பொறுப்பற்ற அரசியலுக்குத்தான் மக்கள் ஆட்சியிலிருந்து அகற்றினார்கள். அப்படியும் @arivalayam திருந்தவில்லை.

75 ஆண்டுகால அரசியல் இயக்கம் இப்படித்தான் தனது கட்சி மேடைப் பேச்சாளர்களை உருவாக்கி வருகிறதா?

எதிர்க்கட்சி என்பது தமிழக நலனுக்காகவும், ஆட்சிக்கான நல்ல ஆலோசனைகளையும் வழங்கி ஆக்கப்பூர்வமாகச் செயல்பட வேண்டுமே தவிர அருவருக்கத்தக்க வார்த்தைகளை பேசி அரசியல் செய்யும் இவர்கள் என்று திருந்தப் போகிறார்களோ?

திமுகவினரின் இந்த அநாகரிகப் போக்கை ஒட்டுமொத்த தமிழகமும், குறிப்பாக பெண்களும் ஒருபோதும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள மாட்டார்கள். இந்த கேவலமான பேச்சைத் திரும்பப் பெற்று, உடனடியாக உதயநிதி ஸ்டாலின் அவர்கள் பகிரங்க மன்னிப்பு கேட்க வேண்டும்!

If men in politics could just focus on actual issues instead of dragging women who have nothing to do with their scheme of things - it would be stellar.

The reason abusive motor mouths like DMKs Shivaji Krishnamurthy could speak so vulgarly on political platforms is because he was encouraged to do so. Not once, but several times till he was expelled.

I didn’t understand what the purported underlying meaning of what the LoP of Tamilnadu said someone known to me explained a while ago. I thought it was about a water connection. Turns out most women didn’t get it. It was a Bro thing.

The least he could have done was tell his audience to pipe down or tell them to behave better, but he went ahead to say something far worse.

It is of course, very easy for anyone in this ecosystem to say if we applied a crass meaning, it is our fault and that our thinking is crass, but I am old enough to remember how the very same ecosystem used to refer and speak about the late Honble CM Jayalalitha.

The older generations profanity was normalised; enough reels are now making the rounds on some collated speeches of senior politicians from the past - but someone in the younger generation is expected to be better, not profanely worse.

What a disappointment.

Women are not outraged enough -

And in solidarity.

Disappointing to see the TN LoP use such despicable language against a woman. Attack the government all you want, but don’t drag women or their personal lives into political battles. There should be some lines we simply do not cross…..

Heard #Udhayanidhi Stalin's speech. It was crass, cheap and deeply derogatory; reflecting the very political culture he seems eager to inherit.

If those with such a mindset aspire to lead a political party and one day govern the state, then God help us. What else can one expect from people who treat abusing, degrading and insulting women as a form of political theatre, basking in the applause, whistles and laughter of their loyal supporters? And who will know this better but me?

Those who normalize such language should remember that once the dignity of women is made a political casualty, no family ( including your own ) is immune from the same treatment. Public discourse must have boundaries, regardless of political differences. Women need to be respected and not treated as a pawn to play to your whims and fancies.

When you know you cannot match the performance, vision or leadership of your political opponent, resorting to personal insults and vulgarity becomes the easiest escape. #UdhayanidhiStalin and his father #MKStalin have faced their share of controversies over the years, but that should never become the standard for public life.

The Leader of the Opposition owes #Trisha an unconditional public apology for insulting her on a public platform. Lets see if can own up his dirt and if he has the courage and decency to apologize?
