@nataliepaq31 Talking about the rights of students in special education was something I haven't done yet in a class at JMU! Discussing definitions really educated me on the expectations students, teachers, and parents should have for their school's special education program! #EDUC200#04Sp22
@SaraMDroz I thought it was very interesting to learn that the bottom two levels, remember and explore, are the most commonly used levels. It makes sense, though, as these are the what students should master first before making connections or creating their own work! #EDUC200#04Sp22
@AlyssaDyke1 Until we were given the list of different biases, I had very little knowledge of textbook bias. It was a really eye-opening activity and I hope that the future is filled with less textbook bias!
@MrsKickert Wow! I am an ElemEd major at JMU and I love this hands-on activity that students did! I have learned so much through my actual personal experience that I couldn't have grasped as easily by just reading a textbook! #EDUC200#04Sp22
@JBritton2025 Hey Jane, I enjoyed guessing in this activity and was a little surprised when my guess was right! My reasons for choosing 3rd grade were because this is when we began SOLs, homogeneous classes, and more rigorous work! #EDUC200#04Sp22
@brenna_staley Hey Brenna! I completely agree that this activity was very helpful for my future in this class! All throughout high school, I was required to use MLA format, so really simplifying APA gave me a clear understanding the format.
Today, we picked up from last week’s discussion of the alternative paradigms for a history of American curriculum! We made real-world connections to each to help us better understand. For example, I connected modern day economics class to ‘scientific management’! #EDUC200#04Sp22
In class, we all contributed to the timeline document and sorted out the protagonists and antagonists of different time periods! This activity helped me gain some perspective on the context of Europe in the 1600s! #EDUC200#04Sp22
@Kevin_Chung21 Hey Kevin, I really enjoyed this activity as well. I think the group work really added some perspective on the philosophies! Also, even though we had some wrong guesses, the main ideas of each philosophy was discussed in our explanations!
@brenna_staley Hey Brenna, I'm sure you found the list just as surprising as me! I thought it was really interesting to realize that we didn't realize some of these were even privileges. It really shows us that we are way more privileged than we think! I'm going to take this in this weekend.
@abbyysimpsonn This was a very cool class activity! I wrote down a lot of notes with consideration to the iceberg model. Something I found really interesting was that a lot of people’s names were derived from family members!
@stratman_olivia Olivia, I really enjoyed listening to everyone’s story of their name! I referred a lot to the iceberg mode we were shown by Dr. Thomas and tried to identify norms and cultures through everyone’s stories!
