Doctors Without Borders calls for the immediate release of Palestinian healthcare workers imprisoned by Israel, saying it is “outraged by the treatment of healthcare workers, most of whom are being detained in dire conditions, without justification.”

Oman’s Foreign Minister to the West: You’ve been containing the wrong country
In a Le Monde op-ed, Oman's Badr al-Busaidi argues the West's decades-long policy of "containing" Iran was always misguided, and that the true threat comes from Tel Aviv https://t.co/33PsUP09Hs
The tip of the iceberg. As the ALP pours obscene amounts of our money into the military/ industrial complex, grifters, thieves, opportunists and greedy ex politicians queue up to line their pockets.
Marles must act decisively and demand the accused faces an open criminal trial.
Jewish Australian Prof Dennis Altman slams call to ban ‘From the River to the Sea’, says it “totally ignores” fact Israel’s position is to control “From the river to the sea”
“I’m not sure in a Lib democracy we ought to be banning things coz somebody might be hurt or offended”💥
Jewish Australian Yasmin Johnson says to claim ‘River to the sea’ is antisemitic because some Jews are offended, is a “smear on the Palestine movement”
Says during the civil rights era, racist white ppl also claimed to be threatened by black ppl.
Feelings weren’t the point.💥
I wrote this here repeatedly. All Israelis wanted was to play their own games and sink into their own intricacies inside the asylum. That is happening now. "The Democrats", Israel's pretense at a Zionist left, will be holding their primaries on July 20th. There are nearly 100000 party members. Nary a one of the 51 politicians competing for ranked seat on the party slate has referred to the genocide, to Gaza and the West Bank or to Palestinians in general. The most that was said was that on October 7th Palestinians proved definitively that they were not a partner. Every politician on the bill wants to stop the "political tsunami" (Israel losing the support of the world). Not one thinks this has to do with the genocide.
The world has never seen this type of behavior, even though genocides are an integral part of the human experience. This level of denial, rejection of responsibility, dehumanization by attrition and silence, none of this has ever been seen. Attempting to ascribe this to Jewish feelings of supremacy over the entire Non-Jewish world is, in my opinion, misguided. It rises from an attempt to make evil intelligible. This is not evil carried out according to a plan. This is an evil that comes from the darkest places in a collective psyche. I remember discussions between Israeli leftists on the inevitability of Hamas - "We shut them up in Gaza for 20 years and threw away the key; what did we expect would happen"? Sometimes all-encompassing impunity is a worse prison for the soul than a military siege. Israeli society has festered for decades in occupation, repression, legalization of supremacy. The stench and rot of the resulting brew grow stronger every day. Any new world order that replaces the existing one must remember this lesson: no one is above said order. It is impunity that is the sine qua non of the darkest, most incorrigible evil.
Jayson Gillham not protected from discrimination while standing up for Palestine — only because he was a ‘contractor’.

The United Nations this week remembered the genocide in Bosnia -- the 8,000+ Muslim men and boys killed in Srebrenica in July 1995. The leaders of the genocide were convicted. The perpetrators of Israel's genocide in Gaza remain at large. https://t.co/H4krBRplil
The notion that you must wait for a court to label something a genocide is disingenuous and not in line with current law. Int’l obligations require states to *prevent* genocide, which obviously can’t wait till it’s over. The Holocaust eg was never jusicially called a genocide
NOT JUST HUSSAM ABU SAFIYA
Not just Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya is held hostage in Israel's concentration camp system, but also the previous director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr. Ahmad Kahlout, who was abducted by Israel a year earlier.
In mid-December 2023, the Israeli army raided Kamal Adwan hospital and abducted the hospital director, Ahmad Kahlout. Kahlout was then tortured by the Shin Bet and forced to give a "confession", on camera, for supposedly being a Hamas militant and for using the hospital as a "military base" of Hamas.
One of the soldiers who took part in the hospital raid, a D9 operator by the name of Ariel Mualem, shared a video of the forced confession on his Instagram story, and wrote: "Take a good look at this d*ck". In the following story we can see Kahlout being abducted, while cuffed. Mualem captioned the video "Human garbage" and "Here he is, not such a hero after we got to him"
Two and a half years later, Ahmad Kahlout is still held captive, undergoing constant torture, in one of Israel's concentration camps, just like his successor, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya.

Jillian Segal claimed Gaza death toll is 'grossly inflated'. Here are the facts.
Legal expert warns Segal could be in breach of Royal Commission Act over 'misleading' claims https://t.co/6P1y4NSi1Y
There’s rightly much talk about Jillian Segal’s criticisms of the ABC & SBS & their coverage of the ‘conflict’ in the Middle East.
Segal told the inquiry that
“… the Jewish community had told her the nature and volume of the coverage of the Israel-Gaza war had contributed to "an impression of great negativity about Israel" (Phoebe Pin, ABC).
About the same time as Segal was complaining about the ‘one sided’ coverage, I was reading John Lyons’ memoir, Balcony Over Jerusalem (2017/2024).
In Chapter 12, “Coffee with the Israel Army 9 December 2011” Lyons recounts a story of being requested to meet with Captain Arye Shalicar of the IDF.
During the conversation, Shalicar said he wasn’t challenging the accuracy of an article Lyons had had published a week or so earlier in the Weekend Australian Magazine but rather that:
“…it’s been published outside of Israel…in Australia”.
Shalicar went on to explain that had the article about the way the IDF treated Palestinian children been published by an Israeli outlet, they would have read it in the context of their ongoing commitment to Israel.
But, Shalicar went on,
“’A story like this may damage the view that Australians have of Israel and they don’t have the commitment to Israel to go along with that.’
Lyons then says that this is not an unusual perspective in Israel:
“… they don’t mind if something is printed in Israel, but when it is published more widely they react badly” (185).
The concern with publishing outside of Israel seems to be about Israel “formalising the occupation into official annexation and achieving Greater Israel” (191).
To do this, “the Israeli public have had to convince themselves that ‘the world hates us anyway’ and would criticise anything Israel did. That is, the world is becoming increasingly anti-Semitic” (191).
John Lyons goes on:
“As long as the media is seen as biased, anti-Israel or anti-Semitic, then Israel is not at fault” (for the occupation).
Hence why Segal is at pains to say the ABC & SBC are biased in their reporting.
Lyons wasn’t being singled out; he knew from speaking with colleagues that “the Israeli Government, Army and lobby groups did not want the reality of the occupation reported” because Israel is losing “the battle for international public opinion.”
And I guess Segal & others don’t want the reality of the genocide being reported because Israel’s brutality is now resulting in a significant decline in international public opinion, with many countries holding negative views of Israel.
The Jewish Council calls on the Australian Government to demand Dr. Abu Safiya's immediate release from life threatening Israeli detention. See full statement at: https://t.co/JgNOnkqMvJ
"The abominable treatment of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya in Israeli prisons is symptomatic of their treatment of prisoners in general, and notably Palestinian prisoners," the former UK Labour leader told The New Arab.
"He is a remarkable man in so many ways. Dr Abu Safiya is a brilliant physician, hospital director and a man who has dedicated his life to the health of the Palestinian people. His health is beyond precarious and of great concern."
Corbyn is urging Britain to end all military cooperation with Israel, warning that the country's treatment of detained Gaza doctor Hussam Abu Safiya reflects a broader pattern of abuse against Palestinian prisoners.
Dr Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, has been held by Israel without charge under its Unlawful Combatants Law since late 2024. His case has drawn growing international attention following reports from his legal team alleging torture, severe ill-treatment and a rapid deterioration in his health
An Israeli soldier’s photo of a Palestinian man from Gaza stripped to his underwear, blindfolded and bound face-down to an iron rod corroborates extensive reporting on Israeli torture of Palestinians in detention and itself may constitute a war crime. https://t.co/hCKafcMpTF

🚨We are deeply alarmed by the reports that there is an imminent threat to Dr. #HussamAbuSafiya’s life as a result of torture and other ill treatment he has been suffering while in Israeli custody. Israeli authorities must immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Abu Safiya. Pending his release, we call on the Israeli Prison service to ensure he is fully protected from abuse, granted urgent adequate medical care and allowed immediate visitation by independent monitors.
