A proud alumnus of Clemson University, Jeff served as a United States Congressman from 2010 to 2024, representing South Carolina’s 3rd District. During his tenure, he was a key member of influential committees, including the House Energy and Commerce Committee, the House Natural Resources Committee, Homeland Security Committee, and Foreign Affairs Committee, where he shaped policies critical to energy and national security.

As a Member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, Jeff served as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy, Climate and Grid Security where he played a key role in shaping energy policy and driving legislative efforts to modernize the sector. His leadership extended beyond the subcommittee, as he became a central figure in advancing energy initiatives within the broader Energy and Commerce Committee. Through his work, he built bipartisan support for policies that reinforced the U.S. nuclear industry, strengthened the fuel supply chain, and positioned the country as a global leader in nuclear technology and innovation.

One of Jeff’s standout achievements was his pivotal role in authoring the ADVANCE Act, a landmark bipartisan bill that modernizes nuclear licensing, promotes the development of advanced reactors, and strengthens the nuclear fuel supply chain.
