This is a 2 minute video about taxing the wealthy.
There is no mention of programs it will fund. Or why the tax dollars are needed. Or what the money would be used for. Or how those less fortunate could be supported to themselves become wealthy.
The benefits are no longer the point.
The implicit message is about punishment. Punishing those doing well is now good politics.

In this post, I explain what Islamo-leftism is.
It's not a secret Muslim plot to use the left to take over. It's not warmed-over "Judeo-bolshevism", and it's not Iran 1979. In fact, it's almost the opposite.
Reading about Chevalier. It was obviously correct from a Machiavellian perspective to *be* this kind of person over the past 10 years, if your goal was to rise up the political ranks of the left. I'm sure that during this timeframe, DSA had some members who didn't post that COVID is actually from France (tankie propaganda), didn't post When We Say Abolish the Police We Mean That Literally (with handclap emojis btwn every word), didnt post about "ugly colonizer women," didn't change religions with a political motivation ... and those people went nowhere within the left, lost influence, may have exited the left altogether.
The thing is, I knew people very similar to Chevalier when I went to Columbia a decade before her. I knew people who were majoring in that exact same Middle Eastern Studies program and had very similar personality and energy as her...Their subsequent path was they'd get a PhD in Anthro or Lit or something, or work for nonprofits abroad before coming home more relaxed, or open a bookstore selling every Chomsky book ever, or become "graphic novelists"...
The new path available to such people where they get to govern New York City is not something I'd have predicted. In fact the people in my graduating class (05) I thought might be governing NY in 20 years were into stuff like economics, urban studies within neoliberal framework, real estate, Bloomberg, charter schools, compromise policies like mixed-income housing, public-private partnerships to revive neglected parks ... well, in middle age none of the classmates I'm thinking of are governing New York! I was wrong about what the future would be like.
You don’t hear much about ‘health care’ anymore.
You don’t hear much about ‘climate.’
You hear a little about ‘housing’ but Abundance has been mostly quashed.
It’s hard to overstate how much oxygen has been sucked out of the room on the Left by the monomaniacal fixation on ‘Gaza’ and ‘Zionism.’ Just extraordinary opportunity costs to focus on an intractable conflict in a far away land that (if we’re being honest) the people most ideologically invested in the US in don’t even have the capacity to make sense of for lack of both intelligence and knowledge.
I feel kind of awful saying this but it’s kind of been a godsend that the left has been so distracted from domestic politics and more or less dropped all of their other projects including ‘climate’ which was their technocratic centerpiece for more than a decade.
For sure the populist right also becomes deranged about ‘Zionism’ but on the whole seems to be doing better than the left (particularly with the Iran war winding down) and I just hope that continues.
@Noahpinion@barakgila Mission 22nd-23rd alone gets you Foreign Cinema, Arcana, Alamo, which might be the nicest block on Mission from cleanliness/vacancy perspective.
Car break ins are good for GDP actually. And this undercounts all the economic activity from people rebuying the stuff that was stolen from them, plus all the people who were able to buy nice stuff at a discount from the thieves.
@DavidSCuadro@dmalcolmcarson I think you'll be proven correct over time on retail being policy failure. If online retail was the issue, you wouldn't see every brand opening up at Stanford/Valley Fair instead. That being said, it sounds like Aritzia, etc. are looking to come back so fingers crossed.
@sv_techie Bonus: Cursor and their team generally have good will. Singular handicap was model was years behind, Chinese distilled all of which Composer 3/XAi can address.
Hard to compare to Instagram/Facebook or Youtube/Google given the price, but definitely feels like Elon's Macrohard vision will come through Cursor + Origin.
