The UN Secretary-General is in Pakistan to discuss its Pakistan-Iran mediation role. Given the circumstances, that's outrageous.

He must raise, loudly and publicly, the findings on Imran Khan's detention:

🔹 2024: The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention declared his detention arbitrary and called for his immediate release.
🔹 2025: The UN Special Rapporteur on Torture warned his confinement conditions could amount to inhumane and degrading treatment, and called for adequate medical care, access to lawyers and family, and an end to solitary confinement.

And Khan is not an isolated case. Rights groups have documented a pattern under the current military-dominated order:

🔹 Enforced disappearances, especially of Baloch activists
🔹 Mass arrests of political opponents and trials of civilians in military courts
🔹 Journalists harassed, censored and silenced
🔹 Courts pressured and constitutional changes that weaken judicial independence

Silence while courting General Asim Munir, Pakistan's de facto ruler, is complicity.
