@Austen Amazing!
Flying in tomorrow for a day, feel lucky to get that on the schedule.
I build the AI integrations for the @roam virtual office / collab suite. staying up to date with what the kids are doing is my job
@turing_hamster I can’t decide if it’s really “read anything” or if curation is important. For example, instead of a pile of “Stink Man” or “Captain Underpants”, there are more than enough good books, similar to encouraging proper nutrition instead of giving candy pizza for every meal.
@jazzplane@Austen@CaptainCons During summer it’s light 5am to 8pm.
Kids bedtime routine starts at 6:30.
I’m not the only one that thinks that. $250 fine for landscaping noise outside of 8am-6pm weekdays, 12-4pm sat, Sunday prohibited.
Shortly before I moved out of NYC (2024) I was walking my son to swim on 14th st between 5th and 6th Ave and noticed an unhinged large (6’4” ish) man just ahead of us, swearing loudly at nothing in particular dragging a frightened small dog on a leash walking pretty quickly.
I was going the same direction, so I kept 20 feet back and continued on behind.
A minute later a guy coming opposite direction got too close. Wasn’t his fault — construction barricades left a narrow walkway. He also had headphones on and may not have been paying enough attention.
Without warning or provocation, the psycho elbowed this guy in the neck, hard. He then took a step back and begin to melt down challenging him to do something about it. He seemed to think the other guy had attacked him.
The other guy was not a small guy either, stumbled and recovered from the stun. He started to get angry, then saw what he was dealing with and turned and high tailed it. The maniac continued his walk, and we turned into the McBurney YMCA. Will never know his destination or what became of the poor dog he had, who had its tail tucked the whole time and was obviously afraid for its life.
I did not file a police report.
On the bright side, we made it to swim on time. Very walkable city.
@romanhelmetguy I get all my Ancient Greece from the Greeking Out podcast (highest recommendation for kids!), but Odysseus being smart is definitely one the main things about him. So not overlooked by everyone!
@HieroRhine@favelaoverlord@Bob_Somebody021 Do you believe I should be allowed to make a chair, and you should be allowed to trade me for it?
congratulations you’re a capitalist.
