Co-founder and Executive Director of Revive & Restore, with a mission to enhance biodiversity through the genetic rescue of endangered and extinct species.
If you’ve ever used an app like iNaturalist, you’re contributing to the most robust library of field observations ever collected. Thanks to app users, this torrent of raw field data vastly exceeds what even well-funded researchers could ever dream of gathering with traditional methods.

How buildings learn about living, loving and dying — a revelatory piece about how @stewartbrand and @ryanphelan6 have made their home a celebration of their extraordinary lives. https://t.co/eCKA7KHw3A
@BenLamm@Hokiestrider@PeterDiamandis@stewartbrand@stewartbrand and I had the pleasure of visiting and planting one of their engineered chestnuts a few years ago. There are several other teams involved in various ways to address th blight problem and I gather it is a rather competitive space now (in a good way).
@BenLamm@Hokiestrider@PeterDiamandis@stewartbrand Thanks Ben. The American Chestnut Research and Restoration Project at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) has been working for decades to create a blight-resistant chestnut.
His TED talk on dextinction in 2013 launched our mission and continues to inspire scientists and conservationists committed to enhancing biodiversity and restoring ecosystems through the genetic rescue of endangered and extinct species. Thank you @stewartbrand! @guardian
A terrific profile of our co-founder & board member. In addition to being "a writer, an editor, a publisher, a soldier, a photojournalist, an LSD evangelist, an events organiser, a future-planning consultant, even a government adviser..." Stewart is an inspiration to our team.
The one major thing left out is my co-founding of Revive & Restore with my wife @Ryanphelan6 14 years ago. It is going strong:

What Stewart does here is something I’ve never quite seen anywhere else before: part conceptual analysis, part campfire story, part survival manual, part history of technology.
A rare book that you will be wiser for reading. And the kintsugi cover is 🤌🏻
This one is extra special. I'll never forget meeting you @stewartbrand when we first kicked off design. Hearing your impassioned takes on white space and the role of designers made my cheeks sore from smiling so hard. We hope you love the work as much as we loved designing it. It was an honor.
Congrats @pablodelcan, @devinjacoviello, @trv_mcl, and Kevin Wong. Y'all pushed hard on this one.
@stewartbrand In contrast:
“Ryan is much more loyal to connections that she’s made,
"...Phelan hopes that Mirene’s buyer will stay in touch — continuing a chain of stewardship that has enriched the couple’s experience aboard.
@stewartbrand It's a surprisingly candid article: "Stewart Brand is not one to get mired in nostalgia... he’s not stuck in the past..."
And that goes for the floating home in Sausalito he’s inhabited happily for 40 years.
