What an amazing opportunity to be able to spearhead this project! Really enabled by the collaborative NIBR environment, a unique framework from the innovation postdoc fellowship, and top notch scientific mentorship.
Thanks so much @Dereklowe for highlighting our paper! I’m so lucky to be part of this fantastic collaboration. Can’t wait to see what @JacobsenLab has coming up!
The heart of the paper was inspired by the @KiesslingGroup’s AWESOME work on C-H pi interactions in glycan recognition, which drive the observed catalyst-controlled regioselectivity. I strongly recommend reading these papers immediately!

@KRHornberger I’ve been wondering what sorts of pharma/biotech positions are open to entry level PhD chemists that don’t require wet chemistry/lab based work?
I love my work in the Pfizer design role, but how common is it outside big pharma? (It’s a frequent question from new grads IMO)
@med_chemist Tecfidera. I’m not sure this exactly fits your definition since the “hit” was fumaric acid described as early as 1959 for MS, which was developed into the drug, dimethyl fumarate, and approved less than a decade ago.
