@purecity_life@mitcharj@ESC_Journals Interesting to me how DIG is used to show that we shouldn’t treat with digitalis because it doesn’t reduce mortality, but we use SGLT2s that reduce HF admissions but don’t reduce mortality (in non diabetics) and that’s GDMT.
@bryan_johnson Bryan. I love that you put yourself out there. I love your work and your enthusiasm for it.
I’ve walked a similar path I think, and I’d just like to share some wisdom I’ve embraced: life is stochastic. Trying to account for every variable drains it of its beauty. Wabi sabi.
@CoffeeBlackMD I wonder if there is any similarities that can be drawn from the thrombectomy literature (ie MR REACUE then MR CLEAN) on CVA. Early trials didn’t show benefit, but as the devices improved and the operator skill progressed, it became clear it was beneficial.
@GavinHi90466834@JeninYounesEsq Don’t mandate something that’s unstudied and force people to being the experiment against their will.
The signal was there, the RCT was never run on willing subjects
@CassellGuardYT@ryangrim Considering the initial trials excluded pregnant women and we told them it was safe and effective, with signal to the contrary, maybe he could have funded an actual RCT to study it rather than ignore it?
@xwanyex We rescued a Pit mix a few years ago. I had many friends who are in the “it’s the owner” camp. I naively believed them. Even though I consider her to be well trained, I have witnessed enough of her behavior around people she considers a threat to fully understand the stigma now.
@CoffeeBlackMD My nurses call me the angel of death. I have “the conversation” with my patients and they pass within a week.
It’s part recognition and part permission.
@stevemur Steve, it’s an epic fumble of Washington voters. Ideologically captured to party and identity, voting in those who do not have our best interests at heart. We have only ourselves to blame
@patrick_oshag From an investment perspective, psk9 will not have the impact that the upcoming antisense oligonucleotides for LpA will have. PSK9s are fighting in the same market segment as statins. These are going to treat a highly heritable disease millions have and no current drug treats.
@CoffeeBlackMD Nope. Just as a stimulant for slow bowels. Works wonders for my patients. Probably the biggest success rate after we get them eating fiber and prebiotics.
@drjohnm I’ve been using CAC for years to help risk stratify patients who are borderline for lipid lowering treatment. No intent to refer to cards (I’m IM). Would you suggest this practice is unhelpful, or am I on target?
@robbysoave I agree in principle, but the absolute malfeasance and unwillingness to acknowledge that he was clearly involved with others who committed wrongdoing has forced this. If the court cannot be trusted, then the court of public opinion it shall be.
@grocklein@SwipeWright Are you saying we shouldn’t be armed when we’re out in public? What did he do to provoke the encounter anyway besides exercise his first amendment right to film law enforcement?
@polymatheistic@mtaibbi Thank you for educating me! I’m not a lawyer, so my hot take obviously doesn’t apply in the way I thought it would. I’ll have to read up on existing law. If the laws on the books have already established precedent for this, it does seem it’s not as cut and dried as I thought
@polymatheistic@mtaibbi I suspect based on how SCOTUS just reversed chevron deference, that if this makes it to them they will agree with Matt here. The executive cannot legislate and adjudicate. That’s why we have three branches of government
