After international cricket captains and the legend Javed Miandad, another former Pakistani cricketer Moin Khan speaks up for Imran Khan and urges all fellow cricketers to raise voice for Imran Khan’s rights for urgent medical care.
#WorldSpeakingUpForKhan
Last couple of years, one of my greatest wishes has been to see my idol, Imran Khan, free from this horrifying, fabricated, inhuman incarceration.
For probably the only real successful international Pakistani, in a sea of mediocrity, and a man who has had several amazing acts - best all rounder of his era, probably the greatest cricket captain ever ( given fractious pak cricket team, politics), sportsman beyond reproach (remember he was the guy who asked for neutral umpires because he said that when we win in Pakistan everybody says it is because of umpires, so let us get neutral umpires.,), the prime Minister who returned our pilot within just a few days without negotiation ( unlike what Musharraf did to our pilot,). Plus, the cancer hospitals he built are beyond imagination - I saw the one in Lahore decades ago - magnificent.
And remember, under him, Pakistan never lost to the West indies which killed everybody else.
And of course, his looks - IMO, the best looking male in the world over several decades... And the tales of his conquests ☺️ were inspirational for our generation.
Even Princess Diana was moved to say " There are few sights as beautiful as watching Imran run in and bowl at Lords on a summer day".
Yograj was our cricket coach in college,: the toughest coach probably in the history of India: it was a privilege to train under him because you would get hit in the mouth, and he would say just carry on , stop crying - (remember back then there was no protection beyond pad and gloves.,).
He was great friends with Imran and in the evenings after a day of brutal training, he would tell us stories of how Imran trained: " if I start making you guys work that hard you will die. Imran came back from a nobody player to a world beating cricketer, simply because he just went into a training cave and worked literally 18 hours a day on his action and fitness."
I pray to the universe that he be released from jail.
Life simply cannot be so unfair specially for a man of his stature and contribution to Pakistan.
Separately, do read his book - Pakistan, a personal history,- absolutely brilliant and not about cricket at all . And his respect for India comes through in the book crystal clear.

Huge appreciation to Imran Khan’s sons, Kasim @Kasim_Khan_1999 and Sulaiman, for stepping up and giving these interviews. They’re using their voice to raise global awareness about their father’s human rights and health situation — and clearly it’s rattling Pakistan’s military establishment, given how quickly the attacks on them started. Keep going, you’re doing the right thing.
Qasim and Suleman Khan’s words on Sky Sports weren’t just an interview; they were a plea to save their father’s life.
The world saw distress in their eyes, and truth in their voice.

The sons of Pakistan's ex-PM Imran Khan, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, tell Al Jazeera that they are increasingly worried after hearing that their 73-year-old father is ‘agitated’ and suffering from ‘severe anxiety.’

Another international media interview by @Kasim_Khan_1999 and #SulaimanKhan on Imran Khan’s health emergency. Thanks @AJEnglish!
Imran Khan must be transferred to Shifa International Hospital & medical treatment must start asap under the supervision of personal doctors & family.
apni zaat ke siwa kisi aur ki gawahi dena aasaan nahi hota yet people continue to speak publicly and proudly about his honesty and every allegation and every attempt to bring him down eventually falls apart, and those who stand against him sooner or later fade into oblivion.
🇵🇰 Former PM Imran Khan’s sons say they’re genuinely scared they could lose their father in prison.
Kasim and Sulaiman spoke to Sky Sports at Lord’s, with their father’s portrait hanging right behind them. They haven’t seen him since 2022 and haven’t even spoken to him since March.
And what they’re describing is brutal.
They say he now spends more than 23 hours a day alone in a small cell, has lost 80% of the vision in one eye and is struggling with his health.
Kasim: “They are just blatantly trying to kill him in there.”
Even after the Supreme Court ordered him moved to a private hospital, his sons say he was taken to a government facility for a few hours and then sent straight back to jail.
The government of course denies mistreating him and says he has food, books, TV and space to exercise.
And here’s where it gets even more frustrating. After his sons spoke about all of this, the Pakistan Cricket Board complained to Sky over the interview.
Forget the politics for a second. These are two sons who just want to see their dad, talk to him and know if he’s okay.

🇵🇰 21 former international cricket captains, including some of the biggest names in the sport, have written to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif demanding proper medical treatment for jailed former PM and cricket legend Imran Khan.
Signatories include Allan Border, Ian and Greg Chappell, Sunil Gavaskar, Adam Gilchrist, Alastair Cook, Clive Lloyd, Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Steve Waugh and others.
They note Pakistan’s Supreme Court ordered Khan examined by a medical board including his own doctors and sister, but he was instead assessed by a state-appointed team and returned to Adiala Jail within hours. They are demanding an independent assessment, particularly over reported loss of vision in his right eye, restored weekly family visits, and immediate access to any recommended treatment.
Khan, 73, has now spent more than three years in custody.
BREAKING NEWS: 22 Former international cricket captains have once again written a letter to Pakistan PM over the treatment for Imran Khan. They first wrote a similar letter in February and this one comes after Pak allegedly didn’t completely comply with SC directions.
They have laid down 3 demands:
1. That the medical board directed by the Supreme Court — including Mr Khan's own doctors — be permitted to complete a full and independent assessment of his health, particularly the reported loss of vision in his right eye.
2. That the weekly family visits reinstated by the Court be honoured without interruption or administrative delay.
3. That whatever the outcome of that medical assessment, the treatment recommended by it be provided without delay.
Three Indians - Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar are among the 22 former captains.
