In Jurassic Park (1993), the insect preserved in amber is shown as an elephant mosquito, a species that doesn’t feed on blood. Because of that, it would not have been capable of carrying dinosaur DNA.

Elephant mosquitoes are among the largest mosquito species, with wingspans reaching nearly 24 mm. They are often recognized by their striking metallic coloration—shades of blue, gold, and purple—and a long, curved proboscis that resembles an elephant’s trunk.

Unlike typical mosquitoes, both males and females are non-biting; their mouthparts are not designed to pierce skin. Instead, they feed on nectar, plant sap, honeydew, and other sugary plant sources.

In their larval stage, however, they are active predators. They hunt and consume the larvae of other mosquito species, including many that are disease carriers. A single larva can eat hundreds of others before maturing into an adult, and may even resort to cannibalism when food is limited.

Because of these habits, elephant mosquitoes have been explored as a natural form of biological control to help reduce pest mosquito populations without the use of chemical insecticides.

Political leaders in NATO countries are so "pro-Ukrainian" that they toppled the democratically elected government in Kiev in 2014 without majority support in Ukraine; they supported purging Ukraine's political system, media, and society of "pro-Russian" elements; they backed the killing of thousands of Ukrainians in Donbas from 2014 onward who did not recognise the legitimacy of the new authorities; they pressured Zelensky to reverse the peace platform that 73% of Ukrainians voted for in 2019 because NATO viewed peace as "capitulation"; they torpedoed the peace negotiations in Istanbul in 2022 after Russia invaded; they boycotted diplomacy and negotiations for more than four years and declared that "weapons are the path to peace," even as a large majority of Ukrainians wanted immediate peace talks; they maintained public support in the West for fuelling the war by ensuring that the brutal "recruitment" of Ukrainian men to the front lines and other uncomfortable realities were not debated in the media; and now, leaders in NATO countries are pressuring the authorities in Ukraine to lower the conscription age, while the EU will also "help" Ukraine by sending Ukrainian refugees back home to die in NATO's proxy war.

The Henry Nowak thing. If you watch the video, before Nowak complains of being unable to breathe and having been stabbed, the one police officer notes that "he has a mouthful of blood". Now when a person with a mouthful of blood starts complaining that they can't breathe and that they have been stabbed, alarm bells should be starting to go off. Then, a few moments later a policewoman requests an ambulance saying "His pupils aren't even reacting". By that point anyone with any bit of sense would surely have realised that there was a very serious problem. Now these same officers, apparently having been bereft of anything approaching basic common sense, are blaming their DEI training.

Polanski is among over 60 prominent figures to have signed the letter, yet the media has decided to focus its attention on him.

Tory party chairman Kevin Hollinrake has urged Polanski to remove his signature and told the Telegraph that the Green party “need to get serious about tackling anti-Semitism and rooting out hate within their own ranks”.

It is outrageous for Hollinrake to suggest that upholding international law could be playing into anti-Semitism.

Being an IDF soldier is not a protected characteristic and conflating Judaism with the Israeli military is dangerous.

I love how this segment is all about the Jewish community fighting "record levels of antisemitism" but exactly zero antisemitism happens anywhere in this segment. A guy gets frightened by a Jewish woman telling him the Shomrim are coming and they have guns. People are scared that a fire is an act of antisemitic terrorism but it turns out it's just an electrical fire. Someone's car temporarily stalled in front of a Jewish person's house. An imam says he's disturbed by a Jewish man taking photos of him. That's it. Nothing happens. It's an entire news segment about absolutely nothing happening, reported in a solemn and urgent tone.
