"What a University S&C Coach Wishes High School Athletes Knew"
The jump from high school to college is bigger than most athletes realize. It’s not just about being talented enough. It’s about managing your time, fueling your body, recovering like it matters, asking for help, and attacking the weaknesses you used to get away with.
Great piece by Cole Hergott below 👇

A facility full of tools does not automatically create better results.
Force plates, VBT, timing systems, jump mats, GPS, AMS software... it's all valuable and helpful. If you implement it right.
But the tool is not the system.
The system is what tells you what matters, what changed, why it changed, and what you’re going to do about it.
That’s the real gap for coaches.
Not more data.
Better decisions from the data they already collect.
A tool gives you a number.
A system turns the number into a decision.
That’s where the real coaching happens.

There’s a distinct difference between sprinting to get FAST vs sprinting to get in shape/for CONDITIONING purposes…
Accumulating quality reps, whether it be acceleration or max v oriented, is the name of the game when it comes to speed development, whereas fatigue is the enemy when it comes to actually getting faster!

Adaptive speed helps athletes carry testing speed into live sport. Coach Will Anger explains how to use constraint variation, measurement, and small doses of variability to build mechanics that survive pressure.

Don’t forget how engaging games are for young athletes. With so many kids quitting sports because it’s not enjoyable to them—games are a creative way to get kids to like movement. https://t.co/tukm3mkD39 via @SimpliFaster
RSI and mRSI almost sound like the same thing.
They’re not.
The subtle differences make them each uniquely valuable. RSI tells you how well an athlete can use the stretch-shortening cycle to produce output in a short ground contact window.
mRSI (modified RSI) tells you how efficiently an athlete creates jump output relative to the time it takes to produce it.
Similar name. Different insights.

"Sprinting Quality Parameters Comparison with Tensiomyography and High-Speed Video"
This piece looks at how TMG and high-speed video can help coaches see what changes under fatigue—ground contact, frequency, muscle response, and the hidden details behind performance drop-off.
Better data. Better decisions. Faster athletes.

Being an Athlete in Uni isn't easy. Only 7% of HS athletes go on to play after. If you are one of the lucky ones to get that chance (or your son or daughter is), then be prepared for what is to come.
