The Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India congratulates @Jain_Physics and his fellow laureates on being awarded the prestigious Wolf Prize for Physics by The @WolfPrize_ , announced on March 10th, 2025.
The Award is cited for:
“Advancing our understanding of the surprising properties of two-dimensional electron systems in strong magnetic fields”, transforming the understanding of the fractional quantum Hall effect. In an innovative and compelling approach, Dr. Jain pioneered the notion of a “Composite Fermion”, a particle formed by the binding of an electron with a magnetic flux tube.

#InfosysPrize2024 in Physical Sciences is awarded to Prof. Vedika Khemani, @vedika_khemani, of @Stanford@QFarmStanford who has made wide-ranging and groundbreaking contributions to theoretical and experimental non-equilibrium quantum matter, most notably the discovery of time-crystals.
A major development was achieved in a collaborative research by DRDO’s DYSL-QT, @TIFRScience & @TCSResearch in areas of Quantum Computer, wherein DRDO and TIFR scientists completed end to end testing of a 6 qubit Quantum processor based on superconducting circuit technology

#InfosysPrize2024 in Mathematical Sciences is awarded to Prof. Neena Gupta of @ISIKolkata for her work on the Zariski Cancellation Problem, a fundamental problem in algebraic geometry first posed in 1949 by Oscar Zariski, one of the founders of modern algebraic geometry. In 2014 she proved the striking result that Asanuma’s 3-dimensional affine variety yields a negative answer to Zariski’s original Cancellation Problem in positive characteristic.
