Not sanguine about the "brutalist" name (any more than I'm overly fond of "graceful degradation" - turning off JavaScript is not a degradation, it's an improvement), but, "web designers", THIS:
“How much better would the web be if every site embraced Brutalist Web Design? How amazing would it be to have readable text, clearly-marked interaction points, unobtrusive advertising, all wrapped up in a fast-loading site you could read on any device?” https://t.co/ZVnBhTMi3Q
@octal Pole planting as part of turning is a standard skill, especially since it is part of the whole "lean forward" thing that so many people have trouble with.
That said, despite many decades of skiing, I tend to pole plant+turn only on steepest terrain (e.g., chutes).
I lived in Mountain View, CA 1988-2002 and went in Hangar One at https://t.co/uZ4kuwr29G a number of times for various events. Nice to see it's been cleaned up & refurbished: https://t.co/xfSPwupMf1
If the key to becoming a billionaire is to exploit people, as some politicians claim, we at YC are idiots. We've spent the last 20 years choosing the wrong founders and teaching them the wrong things. Or maybe we do actually understand startups, and the politicians are wrong.

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TOMORROW
Our first Red Flag Warning is set for tomorrow, Saturday, June 6. Hot temperatures, low humidity, and gusty winds are creating dangerous fire weather conditions across our region. Even a small spark can quickly become a fast-moving wildfire.
🔥A Fire Weather Watch is in effect 11 AM–11 PM PDT Saturday for much of western NV and eastern Lassen County
🌬️West winds 20–30 mph, gusts up to 40 mph, and humidity of 8–15% may lead to rapid fire spread
✨Avoid sparks near dry vegetation and follow local fire restrictions

@octal from which decade(s)?
I went to UCB, and wonder how demographics of student body might have changed since I left in '83, though I continued to live in Berkeley until my move to Mountain View in '88.
