@Vertaris21 ‘they pushed the discourse of "historical Kurdish populations" in Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Tabqa, Manbij, and similar places in order to justify their military presence there’
Well they didn’t. Their expansion to and control of these regions had nothing to do with Kurdish populations
@Vertaris21 Yeah the claim about Hakim came from the same type of convenient “documents” also used to accuse PYD, that were already circulated around way before 2024.

They could’ve attacked him with his very real Turkish ties instead.
@thoughtflblonde@SDF_Syria@SenateForeign@HouseForeign@USEmbassySyria This is all pure nonsense. These extremely, hilariously conveniently worded, sourceless “documents” are brought up every now and then by the same actors without a shred of evidence.
You can’t seriously just believe every piece of paper with words on it.

@Gaismair Once again a shoutout to @SyriaInBrief’s reference guide which serves as the most comprehensive resource on Kurdish parties in/from Syria:
https://t.co/JyrTos8Flq
@Gaismair To be more accurate, the second party is the Kurdistan Democratic Unity Party (an ENKS member party that split from the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria after the latter was expelled from ENKS at end of 2014) , not the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria.
@AlizaMarcus@hdiashid He does and he’s no longer in the presidency council of ENKS (though he’s still in the top leadership of PDK-S). He has no popularity and is likely only kept around for his wealth and connections.
@HyaPublic@VivaRevolt@sfrantzman What is this straw man? You know ENKS oppose these things too right? He’s correctly pointing out how they’re not represented for real, merely given few token seats (really most of these already few are individuals who happen to also be ENKS members, not “ENKS representatives”).
@chitowngirl1982@QalaatAlMudiq To say that shows an extremely poor understanding of everything. He’s not “anti” anyone and wants to cooperate with everyone.
Here's a Kurdish member of parliament saying that his constituent wasn't attacked (presumably her injuries just appeared out of nowhere?) and that actually, the lone unarmed woman with a due process concern was the one threatening the crowd of armed men.
Some "representation."
@AlizaMarcus I know you’re just presenting their perspective, which is a valuable one, but I just wish there’s a bit of pushback to their paternalist narrative, about their view of own constituents as ignorant (spoiler: they weren’t). Very similar to Lenin ironically despite the evolution.
@chitowngirl1982@thoughtflblonde All the strawmen you use to attack the opposition are just projections of your own prejudice against Sunni Muslims it seems.
Syria Poll is back with new survey results for the month of June.
We asked 900 people in Damascus, Rural Damascus, and Homs about government performance, the new People’s Assembly, accountability for Russia, and more.
1. Is the People's Assembly representative of the Syrian people? Will it influence government decisions?
@dkhalifa@_____mjb Seriously, what's even your point? What are you implying if not threatening that rights for an entire people are somehow contingent on "good behavior" by some of their individual representatives, and can be withheld or denied otherwise?
@HyaPublic@VivaRevolt@dkhalifa If there's anything to be learned from 2025 to now, it's that the "PKK" desperately want exactly what you want (unless you actually want full assimilation and not mere integration): they precisely want to work with Damascus and Ankara to work out a favorable outcome for both.
@HyaPublic@alaaklf_ "PKK" is buzzword and scapegoat that means nothing of substance at this point. To present them as some sort of obstacle to state integration is completely detached from reality. They are offering everything for integration to proceed and it's up to the governments to reciprocate.
@HyaPublic@alaaklf_ Anyway, the SDF is working closely with Damascus. Despite their immense military authority including over civilian affairs, however, they are not omnipotent and cannot force their civilian counterparts and ordinary people to play the game. There will naturally be people objecting
