Just putting this out there.
If you are struggling on a state pension, spare a thought for this chap. Incidentally, it does not need to be a nice thought.
It’s a rigged system, and we’re paying the price.
Energy analyst Professor Nick Butler cuts through the spin. Britain is producing more electricity from cheaper wind and solar, yet consumers don’t see the benefit because electricity prices remain tied to the wholesale gas market. The result, he says, is windfall profits for renewable owners while households and businesses pay more. He calls it “corporate welfare”.
Then there’s nuclear. Sizewell C is expected to cost tens of billions, with construction costs ultimately recovered from consumers through their bills.
Cheap energy? Not on this model.
Sizewell C ownership...
* UK Government: 44.9% (largest shareholder)
* La Caisse (CDPQ): 20% (Canadian pension fund)
* Centrica: 15% (British energy firm)
* EDF: 12.5% (French state-owned energy company)
* Amber Infrastructure: 7.6% Parent Company: Part of Boyd Watterson Global Asset Management Group (US-based).
Successive governments have created an energy system where the public funds the infrastructure, shoulders the risk and pays the inflated bill, while private interests collect the returns.
MPs should be representing the public interest. Instead, Westminster keeps facilitating the transfer of public wealth into private hands.
This is not a market; it is corporate welfare disguised as green progress. Until politicians uncouple electricity prices from gas and stop forcing the public to underwrite private risk, energy policy will remain a legalised shakedown of the working class.

Legally it will stand up in court, they have made 100 billion in profits in the last 35 years, simply maintaining the network would have cost a fraction of that.
But they didn't, case closed they polluted on purpose.
Andy Burnham has halted the Nationalisation of Thames Water.
As the law currently stands Water Companies need a Water License to be able to sell you Water.
Almost all of them have broken pollution laws, their licenses could be revoked today because of that.
Then they would be unable to charge you.
Then Nationalised for free.
England water industry was privatized for £7.6bn in 1989. Since then
They have extracted £88.4bn in dividends.
Dumped tons of sewage in rivers.
Lost 1 trillion litres of water a year though leaks.
Built no new reservoirs
But now claim to be worth £144bn.

@dave43law@DailyMail An excellent point.
The narrative that pensions are a benefit must be challenged.
They were paid for over a lifetimes work and if the funds prove to insufficient that is not due to those paying, but to those planning.
Gaslighting at its finest.
Before Trump launched his reckless, stupid WAR, the U.S. had 4 Naval Ports in the Middle East, valued at $4-$8 BILLION to build (each). We now have ZERO Ports, they have been DESTROYED. That's why there have been no shore leave for the navy.
We also had 14 Military bases, now there are 2. Because Iran bombed them to pieces and absconded all assets.
The financial losses alone are estimated to be around a Trillion dollars...and that's all within 6 months.
That's what the Pentagon is hiding
The party of law and order.
Closed 23 prisons,
Cut 12,500 prison places,
Privatised probation services,
Cut 20,000 experienced police officers,
Released thousands of prisoners early,
Brought the criminal justice system to the brink of collapse.
@KemiBadenoch@Conservatives
Ofwat is literally a corrupt joke regulator owned by the Water Companies.
Andy Burnham with his massive majority could scrap them all in a single afternoon and stop pretending he can't control the Essential Services and the bills they charge.
The best way to understand Andy Burnham is that as PM he is still acting exactly like a Mayor.
He's not even pretending to use all the powers he has, just letting the billionaire donors continue on however they like.
@Feargal_Sharkey Blue Flag beaches. Hundreds of ordinary families getting the shits so private water bosses can keep their packages.
This isn’t weather. It’s privatisation working as designed.
Take the water back. Public ownership. End this annual shit ritual.
Well, well. Here's a copy of @thameswater's licence to operate as a water company issued by @Ofwat.
It's signed by Cathryn Ross as Chief Executive of Ofwat.
Would that be the Cathryn Ross that is now Director of Strategy and External Affairs at Thames Water?
Of course it would
