Congratulations to Scott Pasichow, MD, MPH and Rachel Solnik, MD from @YaleMedicine, recipients of the SAEMF/@AWAEM Research Grant! Read their abstract: https://t.co/kVPQVFq2VZ
Scott H. Pasichow, MD, MPH (@SPMD16), was in his second year of residency when he realized he needed help. Here's what he wishes he knew in residency about physician burnout and how he still practices prevention. https://t.co/zNI7frARQz
DEI is fundamental to Emergency Medicine. We care for a diverse population. But 80% of what determines the health of our patients is policy. - Pres Terry @ACEPNow #LAC2024
So close @RealCedricDark but I'm already at the airport heading out. But here are a few pearls I shared with @AmCollSurgeons today that @ACEPNow folks may find helpful.
To turn your healthcare advocacy into political action, when you meet with your congressional offices:
1. Lead with your ask.
2. Explain why your issue matters (use statistics so they believe you and stories so they care).
3. Offer a solution.
4. End with your ask.
5. Follow up.
Good luck and enjoy your time on the Hill.

New research suggests that the mode of police transport can impact the use of restraints on individuals. Understanding these dynamics could lead to safer interactions. Learn more: https://t.co/hnFxJsNPsA
New episode just released with a discussion regarding the joint project between EMRA and ACEP with ‘Practice Essentials is Live and Growing Update with Drs. Cozzi, Pasichow, and Stark’. @SPMD16@NickCozziMDMBA@NickStarkMD@emresidents @ACEPNow https://t.co/6S5PUbPPLN
ACEP Pres, CEO & SVP Advocacy met w/ Jonathan Kanter, US Asst AG for Antitrust & other @TheJusticeDept staff to present concerns about the negative impact of insurer consolidation on EPs and patients. ACEP is working to protect EP’s clinical autonomy as insurance companies acquire more market share.

The number of DMs I get from residents about being forced into unpaid parental leave should be an embarrassment to GME programs across the country. But also how do we set up a system to help these residents advocate for what they deserve bc single residency at a time ain’t it?
The "issue of the day" is health care economics at the #ACEP23 Closing Session. Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina M. Khan and expert Lawton R. Burns, PhD, MBA fielded EPs' questions, touching on private equity, consolidation and more.

Oh and don’t miss our Happy Hour that same day 😏🍻
@SSpadaforeMD So really, everything is seen as a business model and nothing is allowed to be for the public good or for readiness. Cut are always attractive until your hospital system looses all IT systems for 3 weeks a month after downsizing the department. 😬
@SSpadaforeMD The problem: those services are often under attack from government pressures as well. Maplewood township taxes only cover recycling, I have to pay for garbage, and the Fire Service just regionalized to increase efficiency. Fire also looks to add EMS coverage for the same reason.
