@stklietsch Yes, I think critics are referring to the referent of “genocide”, not to the word itself. Ie, the claim here is not that Israel is admitting to genocide but that they are nonetheless committing it in the name of Jewish safety and in the name of a state for the Jewish people.

@Mylovanov @acoyne But wouldn’t a genuine “overreaction” be good here? If Putin keeps getting away with hybrid warfare with no consequences, this will only embolden him. Whereas if NATO strikes back strongly, he will become afraid of taking such actions.

@stklietsch But Israel claims that it’s actions against the Palestinians in Gaza (which many understandably see as genocide, including myself) is in the interest of Israel, which is another way of saying “in the interest of the Jewish people”, as they define Israel as for the Jewish people
