Wake up bae
H5N1 bird flu just rolled out another surprise.
A highly divergent B3.13 virus has been detected in Idaho cattle.
It’s carrying a new receptor-binding domain mutation.
Rates of infection with other pathogens after a +ve #COVID test versus a neg test - more brilliant work from @zalaly and team. COVID causes immune dysregulation and ⬆️risk of other infections. https://t.co/yIZ9LvD2NF
@discourse Was genuinely interested in this for a colleague's usage upon updating from a Discourse Community account to a Pro account in the coming months, but then I saw it's only available on $500 Business accounts. 🫤
Scientists warn H5N1’s biggest threat is reassortment: flu strains mixing in animals or humans to create a novel virus. Outbreaks in poultry, dairy cattle, and wildlife, combined with weak surveillance and vaccine politics, could increase pandemic risk. https://t.co/PJRCOsddcf
One has to be extremely gullible to think oil will be anywhere near $70 in six years time. Regardless of where this SoH crisis goes (read: it could get much, much worse), the depletion incurred by 2032 will see to it that $70 oil is a thing of the past.
Looks like someone isn't aware of the crisis emanating out of the Strait of Hormuz closure.
This coming "age of abundance" is gonna be real interesting in light of the rippling famine & the knock-on effects of sulfur & helium shortages.
Can we build tech with vibes?
TLDR: Diary of a CEO has 15M+ subscribers and credible-looking guests, but structurally it's a closed loop: undisclosed investors, sponsors, and Thiel/Angermayer-funded portfolio companies — with pro-Russia geopolitics and pseudoscience smuggled in.
“Our big problem is the input costs.”
Inputs are the modus operandi of monoculture-based industrial ag. The farmer/community produce virtually nothing on their own, dependent on outside sources for seeds, fertiliser, pesticides, equipment, etc.
The system was destined to fail.
“It’s costing us about $1,500 of cash per day to run 2 tractors.”
Ohio farmer says skyrocketing input costs are hammering American farmers.
“I spent many years buying potash for $90 a ton, and now it’s $670 to $700 a ton.”
“Our big problem is the input costs.”
“I haven’t seen anything this bad since the 1980s.”
BREAKING: Iran directly rejects Trump's claim that Hormuz "will be opened" as part of a "largely negotiated" agreement he just posted on Truth Social, saying Trump's claim is "far from the truth" and that Hormuz "will remain under Iranian management" with Iran retaining exclusive permanent authority over route, timing, method, and permits, per Fars.
Iran also confirms the nuclear file has not been discussed and that American officials themselves have told Iran in multiple messages that "Trump's tweets are primarily for domestic American propaganda and media consumption" and "should be disregarded." The "largely negotiated" deal claim therefore has no basis.
After this Thursday’s show, the Ed Sullivan Theater will go dark, and we’ll lose one of the nation’s funniest and most courageous, truthful, and gentlemanly critics of Trump and his regime.
Farewell, and thank you, Stephen. https://t.co/0syXYZoCnD
So our post-war globally interconnected world was underwritten by the US acting to coordinate things like open sea lanes, monetary systems and also disease control.
Problem is, is we still have wide open air travel, but none of the disease control.
Goldman saying the oil market has been in a net deficit of 7-8MM Bbl/d since March 1st. JP Morgan said we can only lose 800MM Bbls before the global refining system gets pushed into operational stress levels. As of April 23rd 520MM Bbls were left. That puts "D-Day" ~ July 1st.
"CDC confirms cat-to-human transmission of avian influenza".
It was an isolated case, and would have occurred more than a year ago, but the reality of transmission has nonetheless been established.
