Ok this is @IITHyderabad! A premier institute where students get seats through merit and what do they do after joining college?

1. They create dog hating groups on WhatsApp and brainstorm on different ways to kill its campus dogs! Below are the screenshots of the chats which students are having. Don’t they know that killing dogs is a crime? The worst part is there are Phd level students who are driving this hate.

2. During all this discussion, about 2-3 days back, a dog,wolfy, on @IITHyderabad campus dies under mysterious circumstances.

3. It’s a 576 acre campus with about 200 dogs living peacefully. There are only 4 feeding zones at the fag end of the campus. It’s impossible for the dogs to travel all the way for food because they are territorial. This is resulting in dog starvation.

So what is your next plan of action @IITHyderabad ? Would you be actioning on all the above points?

Human welfare and animal welfare go hand in hand! There are scientifically proven solutions to manage dog populations. I hope you will take necessary steps to educate your students to bring awareness on animal welfare in your campus.

I'd like to believe a citizen on a 16day hunger strike warrants a conversation with the government whose actions brought him to that place. I say ‘a citizen’ because perhaps any citizen fighting for a cause, for students, would expect the same. Acknowledgment at some level of govt. I cannot imagine a person who wants harm to come to Mr Wangchuk. I don’t see why a mere dialogue is this hard. As a citizen, I don’t pretend to understand any sort of political manoeuvring. As a citizen, I’ve certainly been proved wrong more than I have been right. Political strategy, alliances aside, as a citizen…you cannot dispute what he is fighting for. Younger citizens. Happy to be called naive, simplistic, or ignorant. But I see students crying for help, a citizen on a hunger strike, and I request my govt to engage in dialogue.

These two women abandoned a Labrador outside Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, leaving him confused, terrified, and waiting for people who were never coming back.

What kind of values were these women taught? Why would any decent country want people like them or families that condone such cruelty, in its society?

A dog doesn't understand "abandonment."

He only knows that the people he trusted with his entire life suddenly disappeared.

He waits.
He searches.
He cries.
He stops eating.
He runs after strangers hoping they'll bring his family back.

This is cruelty.

The irony is that the same people who buy and breed dogs without a second thought are often the ones filling our streets with abandoned pets. When the dog becomes inconvenient, expensive, old, sick, or no longer "cute," they dump him like garbage and drive away.

A Labrador is not a street dog. He doesn't know how to survive traffic, hunger, hostile dogs, or human cruelty. Abandoning a pet is often a slow death sentence.

People who can look into the eyes of an animal that loved them unconditionally and still choose to abandon him reveal far more about themselves than about the dog.

If you can no longer care for your pet, find a responsible home, contact rescue groups, or seek help. Abandonment is never the answer.

A society that normalizes abandoning loyal animals cannot call itself compassionate.

If you recognize these individuals or have information about this incident, please come forward. People who abandon animals must be held accountable!

Groot was a vaccinated, sterilised and deeply loved community dog from Barkatpura, Hyderabad. He was picked up without any valid reason and taken to Moosapet Animal Shelter.

According to the residents, despite repeated requests for his return, he was not released. They also allege they were threatened that he would be euthanised.

About eight days later, Groot was finally released,
but in a critical condition.

His caregivers rushed him to a veterinary hospital.

He died that very night.

How does a healthy community dog enter government custody and come back dying?

Hyderabad: A perfectly healthy, vaccinated community dog named Groot was wrongfully taken by GHMC on June 29th based on a false complaint. After 8 days of bureaucratic delays, he was returned barely alive, suffering from severe tick fever, jaundice, and complete liver failure. He died that very night.

How does a healthy dog die of acute liver failure in just 8 days under government custody? This is horrific negligence and an absolute failure of the system.

If this is how we treat our most vulnerable animals, we are forced to deeply question the core morals and humanity of our country. A society is judged by how it treats its weakest, and right now, the system is failing them completely.

Sub: Complaint regarding the death of a community dog due to negligence by GHMC officials – Request for enquiry and appropriate action.

Respected Sir,
We residents of Barkatpura Housing Board Colony, submit this representation on behalf of the colony residents.
Our colony residents regularly feed, vaccinate, and sterilize the community dogs. On 28.06.2026, following a complaint regarding an accident involving a two-wheeler, GHMC officials led by Dr. Agnivesh captured a community dog named Groot and shifted him to the Moosapet Government Animal Shelter.
Despite repeated requests for his release, Ms.Sadguna, Asst. Director Veternary Wing refused and allegedly threatened that the dog would be euthanized. After about eight days, the dog was released in a critical condition. He was immediately admitted to a veterinary hospital but unfortunately died the same night.
The incident raises serious concerns regarding the treatment and care provided to the dog while in GHMC custody.
I therefore request you to kindly order a thorough enquiry into the matter and take appropriate disciplinary action against Dr. Agnivesh, and Ms. Sadguna,Asst . Director & other officials found responsible for negligence, so that such incidents do not reoccur

Society members allegedly chased a terrified community dog, brutally beat it with rods, attempted to illegally capture community dogs in plastic bags, and allegedly assaulted an animal caregiver who tried to stop them. Bloodstains were reportedly found near the security office where the dog was cornered.

Complaint has reportedly been registered by @DarshnaAnimal at Ghatlodia Police Station.

🚨 We urge @GujaratPolice @AhmedabadPolice @dgpgujarat @Ghtlodia_PS_Ahd @sanghaviharsh @BJP4Gujarat to immediately register an FIR (if not already registered), identify every accused from CCTV footage, investigate the alleged assault on the caregiver, rescue and protect the community dogs, and take strict legal action against all those responsible.

• Rule 11(19): Sterilized community dogs must be returned to the same locality.

• Rule 20: RWAs, societies and builders cannot remove community dogs.

⚖️ Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960

• Sections 11(1)(i), 11(1)(j) & 38(3): Causing unnecessary suffering, illegal relocation and violation of ABC Rules are punishable.

⚖️ Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023

• Section 325: Killing, poisoning or maiming animals.

• Section 62 read with Section 325: Attempt to harm animals through planned mob action.

• Section 3(5): Common intention.

⚖️ If the animal caregiver was threatened or assaulted, offences under BNS Sections 351, 352, 126, 74, 79, 61(2), 189, 191 & 356 may also be attracted, subject to investigation.

Community dogs are protected by law. Mob violence, illegal relocation, and attacks on animal caregivers cannot become society rules.
