day 11 of building @playchromies to help people stop doomscrolling and go outside.
Just submitted a new app version with the crew feature fully implemented as a V1.
Can’t wait to play it!!
day 10 of building @playchromies, the color-hunting game
Two days ago I started the biggest growth feature yet. Here’s how it’s shaping up.
Crews. Team up with friends, share a mission, earn points and build a streak together.
Chromies has been a solo ritual so far. Soon it’ll be one you can share.
The hardest thing in any walking-the-world app is keeping people consistent. Friends solve that better than any notification ever will.
Shipping this week.
day 8 of building @playchromies, the app that turns your phone into a reason to look up
Got this message from a power user this afternoon. It’s the whole thesis of Chromies in two sentences.
Started the biggest growth feature today, the one that gives every user a real reason to bring friends along.
More soon.
day 7 of building @playchromies, one colour a day, your whole city seen anew
Somewhere right now, someone is chasing pumpkin down a street they've walked a hundred times. That's the whole point.
Shipped two things to lean into that:
• a reworked Snap tab, more social and tighter to the app's storytelling
• leaderboard previews on every profile, so you can see how your friends are ranking at a glance
Video below.
day 6 of building @playchromies, the first colour-hunting game
Shipped a major upgrade to the colour identifier today.
The fix didn’t come from me. It came from @Bptstmlgt (49 colours captured), sitting in the top division, and apparently keeping a running list of every edge case the algo got wrong.
He sent it over. We rebuilt against it. Live tonight.
This is day 6 and the community is already shaping the product.
day 5 of building @playchromies the colour-hunting photography game.
I watched @Sorare go from a niche NFT experiment to the biggest fantasy football game on the planet.
The product in its early days moved at a pace no roadmap could capture.
The community wasn’t loyal: they were OBSESSED.
The engine for both was the same: the Discord.
Not a marketing channel. The place where the company actually lived.
Founders and early employees (👋@ni2las@dansorare@bruhagan ) inside it daily. Ideas surfaced and tested before they ever became features. Bugs caught and fixed within hours.
That’s the playbook I keep coming back to 👇
Opening a Discord for @playchromies today. Come in early!

day 3 of building @playchromies, the Pokémon Go game but for colors 🎨
Spent part of the day rethinking onboarding.
Current version let new users skip sign-up entirely. Snap a first photo, start a collection, and only hit a sign-up wall when they wanted social features.
In theory, this is best practice: zero friction, instant magic moment.
But it felt wrong. The first photo carried no weight because they hadn't committed to anything yet.
So I flipped it. Every new user now goes through a beautiful branded landing screen first. Sign up, then start hunting colors.
Used Claude Design to one-shot this screen and animations, with handoff instructions clean enough that Claude Code dropped it into SwiftUI without back-and-forth.
The improvement @claudeai has shipped on Claide Design over the last month is genuinely wild.
New version submitting tonight.
Shipping one every day
