Yesterday we signed a deal to help Saudi Arabia enrich uranium.

The first time the United States has ever helped another country enrich uranium on foreign soil.

The Saudis refused the inspection protocol 140 other countries accept. Too intrusive, they said.

Trump agreed. He signed a national security waiver to get around the rule.

The Saudis paid Kushner $100 million. They put $2 billion into his firm. They put another $6 billion into LIV Golf, which pays Trump properties to host its tournaments. They signed ten billion dollars in Trump-branded real estate deals in Jeddah and Riyadh. All in just the last few years.

Nietzsche said a lot of contradictory stuff but one of his most consistent ideas is that archaic western culture used to value brute strength for its own sake but Judeo-Christianity inverted the relationship between strength and goodness and encouraged the strong to feel guilt and pity for the weak. He revered Homer's Odysseus much more than a contemporary Christian priest.

So it's funny that Nolan made The Odyssey kinda Christian—accentuating the main character's guilt, trauma—and then many Christian conservatives, who decided that they were going to hate the movie because it had a Black actress in the wrong role, instead have to twist themselves into the pretzel of arguing that making the Odyssey Christian is "woke" and they just really wanted to see a movie and hero that properly embodied the very same archaic and anti-Christian values that in any other context they would consider abhorrent.

Death Stranding is a videogame about a cataclysmic event that breaks the barrier between earth and the ocean of the afterlife, opening a portal into a liminal realm called The Beach. Then, deceased souls start getting stuck in this limbo and transforming into invisible monsters.

Their purgatorial prison makes them desperate for connection. So, they begin reaching out to the living. However, when an undead being and a living being make contact, a massive antimatter explosion called a voidout results, creating craters all over a desolate America.

Because of the cataclysmic Death Stranding event, a phenomenon called timefalls start happening too. This is when otherworldly rain rapidly accelerates the aging of anything it touches. So, the protagonist must avoid invisible monsters and paranormal precipitation.

He does this as he journeys along The Beach, which he uses to create a new quantum internet and reconnect all the isolated survivors. Nevertheless, he eventually finds out what caused the Death Stranding to begin with.

It happened after a woman named Amelie brought a dead baby back to life, upsetting the balance of the cosmos. Amelie had this ability because she was actually the manifestation of a godlike being called an Extinction Entity.

In short, the universe designed her to trigger the end of humanity and finally end all the world’s suffering. People who agree with Amelie’s cause, like a man named Higgs, lead terrorist organizations to accelerate the apocalypse on her behalf. But Amelie is only a spirit.

Her body actually belongs to a woman named Bridget, who is the first female president of the United States. So, the videogame has a really complex and crazy plot. But it actually seems super symbolic in light of recent world events. In fact, fans called it prophetic.

Not only was the game released right before the isolating Covid-19 lockdowns and the advent of the purgatorial world of the metaverse, it also predicted the rise of the accelerationists, who aim to speed up the end of the world and eliminate our supposedly parasitic species.

Even the “bridge babies” that are used to sense out the invisible monsters are reminiscent of those psychic mind control victims who are forced to have near-death-experiences. Like the “bridge babies” they live between life and death.

It’s also interesting to note that Higgs shares names with the Higgs Boson, the otherworldly particle discovered by the antimatter collider at CERN. People think CERN could accidentally end the world. And there’s even a statue of a godlike Extinction Entity named Shiva outside its lab!

So, maybe CERN will open a portal into limbo. Or maybe it already has. After all, the metaverse would not exist without CERN, which created the liminal realm we call the World Wide Web. But who is the real-world version of Amelia? Who is seducing scientists and terrorists into believing humanity needs erased for the greater good?

.@elonmusk says that no one can name a person who died from his aid cuts. In fact, I've met the kids who are dying, and I've talked to the families who lost children. In my columns, I've cited many, many names of people who have died because of Musk's aid cuts. A few examples:
*Yamah Freeman was a 23-year-old woman who died in childbirth because Musk cut funding for the diesel for ambulances in her part of Liberia. She couldn't get to a hospital and died as people were carrying her there. I talked to her parents and sister in their village.
*Gbessey Kiadu, age 1, died of malaria because of his cuts to malaria medication in Liberia. I talked to his mom in her village.
*Ibrahim Koroma, an infant, died of AIDS in Sierra Leone after he interrupted HIV supplies. I talked to health workers who cared for him.
*Achol Deng was an 8-year-old girl with HIV in South Sudan who died when Musk cut funding for the health care worker who provided her medicines. I talked to the healthcare workers.
I could go on and on. In almost every village you go to in South Sudan, Uganda, Liberia, Sierra Leone or other countries I reported in, you find people dying because of aid cuts. I challenge Musk: Come with me on a reporting trip, and we'll talk to these moms and dads, and you'll see the dying children themselves. I think if you see the kids whose lives are at stake, maybe you'll change your mind.
