After just 24 hours, the government has dropped its commitment to reopen the Leamside Line. It was included yesterday in the initial Network North announcements, now it’s gone.

Roads minister Richard Holden tells me Govt is now just ‘committed to looking into it’.

They have taken out the Elizabeth Line from passenger journey figures, in an attempt to show that business/commuter travel is significantly down on 2019.

Then they admit it in the footnote. That's some ommission.

Sunak’s transport plan is a fairy tale. The projects he listed almost all have no plan or planning consents whatever, won’t start for years & cost multiple times more than £36bn “saved” from HS2. The northern rail scheme alone will cost above £36bn to get journey times he pledged

HS2 going to Euston means it will ultimately go to Manchester too, since all London to Mchester, Glasgow & Liverpool trains will now use HS2 & face chronic bottleneck beyond Bham
