Happy Birthday Tom!!! Thank you so much for your generous support every year ❤️
We're so excited to, with your leadership support, give high schoolers an opportunity to build their first ever PCB.
OpenROAD @OpenROAD_EDA tools will soon be featured in VLSI Design courses at the UCSC Silicon Valley Extension ! We will be offering courses on Physical design, Timing analysis and more. Stay tuned here for details: https://t.co/5gGZWjw3FX
@OpenROAD_EDA The DAC-2022 #59DAC "Open-Source EDA and Benchmarking Summit" Birds-of-a-Feather session is July 12, 2022 7-10pm, Room 3000, Moscone West in SF. Link: https://t.co/HTijcQ6Ihd
Interested in doing a Ph.D. or a postdoc in the Silicon VLSI and computer architecture area. Contact me! I have immediate openings for several graduate students. Come revolutionize the world with new era of System on Chip design! #VLSI#gradschool#comparch#SoC#comparith
Had a hard time tracking all the great open source HW projects out there, so I made another list. I am sure I missed some, PRs needed to complete list!! https://t.co/Ipi0vePqYL
Super excited about the work @proppy is doing to put ASIC + FPGA tools into Jupyter notebooks!
You can then use them for free on @Google's Colab without having to install tools locally.
See the recent interview with @matthewvenn for more info - https://t.co/QairSB61RP

This is some very cool work from @td_ene about understanding (and then hopefully improving) adder performance in the open source EDA tooling like @YosysHQ, @OpenROAD_EDA and others!
A great end to the week. When taping out the #Microwatt processor for an upcoming #sky130 shuttle, we hit some test case failures. Managed to isolate it to a synthesis issue in #GHDL. Submit a bug report, and Tristan Gingold commits a fix within hours.

Thanks to @efabless, @Google and @SkyWaterFoundry for the chance to tape out #Microwatt, a 64 bit @OpenPOWERorg CPU, on #sky130_mpw1. Thanks also to the @OpenROAD_EDA and Openlane projects for the tools to make this possible. Open Hardware built with Open Source tools.
@OlofKindgren For looking at a layout you may find it easier to run openroad -gui and load the lef/def in. You can see the netlist objects and def objects like tracks and blockages more easily.
@OlofKindgren@SkyWaterFoundry Yes, opensta can load a gzipd version if that helps. Normally companies have one copy on the network that is readable by all designers to avoid multiple copies so the size becomes irrelevant when amortized across users. In our distributed open source model that doesn't help much.
