I'm seeing quite a bit of comment about this, so I want to make a couple of points.

I'm not owed eternal agreement from any actor who once played a character I created. The idea is as ludicrous as me checking with the boss I had when I was twenty-one for what opinions I should hold these days.

Emma Watson and her co-stars have every right to embrace gender identity ideology. Such beliefs are legally protected, and I wouldn't want to see any of them threatened with loss of work, or violence, or death, because of them.

However, Emma and Dan in particular have both made it clear over the last few years that they think our former professional association gives them a particular right - nay, obligation - to critique me and my views in public. Years after they finished acting in Potter, they continue to assume the role of de facto spokespeople for the world I created.

When you've known people since they were ten years old it's hard to shake a certain protectiveness. Until quite recently, I hadn't managed to throw off the memory of children who needed to be gently coaxed through their dialogue in a big scary film studio. For the past few years, I've repeatedly declined invitations from journalists to comment on Emma specifically, most notably on the Witch Trials of JK Rowling. Ironically, I told the producers that I didn't want her to be hounded as the result of anything I said.

The television presenter in the attached clip highlights Emma's 'all witches' speech, and in truth, that was a turning point for me, but it had a postscript that hurt far more than the speech itself. Emma asked someone to pass on a handwritten note from her to me, which contained the single sentence 'I'm so sorry for what you're going through' (she has my phone number). This was back when the death, rape and torture threats against me were at their peak, at a time when my personal security measures had had to be tightened considerably and I was constantly worried for my family's safety. Emma had just publicly poured more petrol on the flames, yet thought a one line expression of concern from her would reassure me of her fundamental sympathy and kindness.

Like other people who've never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she's ignorant of how ignorant she is. She'll never need a homeless shelter. She's never going to be placed on a mixed sex public hospital ward. I'd be astounded if she's been in a high street changing room since childhood. Her 'public bathroom' is single occupancy and comes with a security man standing guard outside the door. Has she had to strip off in a newly mixed-sex changing room at a council-run swimming pool? Is she ever likely to need a state-run rape crisis centre that refuses to guarantee an all-female service? To find herself sharing a prison cell with a male rapist who's identified into the women's prison?

I wasn't a multimillionaire at fourteen. I lived in poverty while writing the book that made Emma famous. I therefore understand from my own life experience what the trashing of women's rights in which Emma has so enthusiastically participated means to women and girls without her privileges.

The greatest irony here is that, had Emma not decided in her most recent interview to declare that she loves and treasures me - a change of tack I suspect she's adopted because she's noticed full-throated condemnation of me is no longer quite as fashionable as it was - I might never have been this honest.

Adults can't expect to cosy up to an activist movement that regularly calls for a friend's assassination, then assert their right to the former friend's love, as though the friend was in fact their mother. Emma is rightly free to disagree with me and indeed to discuss her feelings about me in public - but I have the same right, and I've finally decided to exercise it.

想讲讲我为什么会来日本。

故事要从2017年讲起，那年北京大兴的一个城中村着火，烧死了几个人。
于是，北京开始清理低端人口。
所谓“低端人口”，指的就是我们这种不富裕的外地人。

当时我住在天通苑的一个群租房里，60平左右的房间，分割成了4个卧室。
我租了其中一间，月租3500。
那天我回家，门上贴了一张居委会的告示，说政府禁止合租房，勒令我们限期搬家。
我没搭理。

于是几天后，居委会带着几个壮汉，拿着锤子和电钻，把主卧的墙给砸了。
居委会振振有词，说主卧本来是个客厅，中介违规隔成了卧室，这个墙砸得合理合法。
住在主卧的也是一对小情侣，女孩跟我爱人一样，喜欢穿各种花花绿绿的裙子。
那些漂亮的裙子就被淹没在尘土和砖块之中。
隔天，主卧的情侣搬走了。

又过了几天，家里突然停电了。
我以为欠费，就在手机上买了点电，但过了一会电还是没来。
室友从里屋出来，说居委会的人又来了。
这次，他们把我们家的电表给拆了。
我到走廊一看，果真，电表箱里空空如也。

我本想带我媳妇去住酒店的，但她心疼钱，我俩就借着手电筒的灯光，找到一盒我之前参加活动时，主办方送的香蕈蜡烛。
你别说，点着后小气氛整得还挺浪漫。

就那么对付了一夜，第二天一早，我去了居委会。
接待我的是个小姑娘，一口京腔，问我屋子里都住了哪些人。
我说我跟我媳妇住了一间，另外三个房间是两个次卧，和一个厅隔（客厅改成的卧室），那个厅隔已经被你们砸了。
“你媳妇？”她纳闷，“结婚了怎么还跟别人合租房子？考虑过她的安全吗？算负责任的老爷们吗？”

她把我问住了。
我本以为自己挺能言善道的，甚至准备好了各种法律条文用来维权，但谁知竟一句话被她绝杀。
我从居委会铩羽而归，打算搬家，找一个整租的房子。

可谁知我刚走出电梯，就看见我这个群租房的中介，在偷偷地给我装电表。
我吓了一跳，我说哥们，这活你干得了吗？
他说你别吱声，公司给我培训过。
他话音刚落，我看到屋里的灯，亮了。
牛逼。

那时起，我就萌发了买房的念头。
但可惜我收入很不稳定，经常几个月颗粒无收。
毕竟我要是手头宽裕，就不会跟别人合租房子了。
几个月后，我走了狗屎运，一本书的版权被爱奇艺买走了，说要拍个网剧。
天降一笔横财，这让我有了买房的底气。
我看看钱包，前掐后算有个小一百万。
于是我开始看盘。

看了几个盘后我才意识到，这点钱妄想在北京买房，杯水车薪。
此时，一个老家的朋友找我说，要不要考虑下郑州的房子，我手里有个盘，开发商是个国企……
毕竟你也没有北京户口，就算买了房，依然是外地人。
他说的有几分道理。
左思右想，我决定在老家买房，将来回去发展。
于是，我买了朋友推荐的那个房子。
房本上写的是我媳妇的名字。

她十九岁时就跟我在一起。
当时她还在上大学，我在创业，项目融了点钱，我意气风发，向她吹嘘，看着吧，不出两年，你老公一定飞黄腾达。
于是，不出两年，我就跟合伙人闹翻了，净身出户。
失业后，我搬到了这个齐聚了“低端人口”的群租房里。
她毕业了，拖着行李来北京找我，我打开房门，向她介绍：
这是A房间，住着一个哥们，做销售的；
这是B房间，住着一个女孩，我也不知道干啥的；
这是C房间，暂时还没人住，中介说过两天就来人了。

这是D房间……也就是咱们家。
我挺没底气的，把那个家字念得非常轻。

赋闲过一段时间，我开始上班、写书、捣鼓捣鼓小项目试图赚点钱……
无论我做什么，她都“好啊好啊”地支持我。
有一天我心血来潮，说咱俩领个证吧。
她想都没想，就说好啊。
她就这样匆匆忙忙地把自己嫁了。
直到去年我俩决定出国时，才补办了一场婚礼。

房买得挺痛快的。
我们签约时，那房子已经快封顶了，约定当年年底交房。
签完合同的次月，就开始还贷了。
每个月要还款三千多，我掐着指头算算，还到第六个月，就可以收房准备装修了。
可六个月后，我没有等到收房的通知……
它停工了。

彼时我还没意识到问题的严重性。
毕竟赶上疫情，各行各业都不好过。
我托朋友去工地看看。
朋友说一开始，工地里还有三两个工人敲敲打打，后来干脆大门紧锁，只有一个保安站在门口玩手机。
又过了几个月，眼看彻底复工无望，业主们便去售楼部讨说法。
没等到管事的领导，折腾几个业务员无济于事。
大家就又到开发商总部去静坐。
开发商无奈，只得跟我们对话，其间找各种借口，先是说空气扬沙治理、后又把责任推给新冠。

最后，开发商才坦白说：没钱。
钱去哪了？
每家每户都交了几十万的首付，还每月向着银行还着几千块钱的贷款。
现在你告诉我你没钱盖房。
那我交的这些钱去哪里了？
没人知道。
开发商一副死猪不怕开水烫的模样，谁也拿他没办法。

我们只好开始维权。
维权的过程很难，在郑州的，就排班去售楼处静坐拉横幅；不在郑州的，就在网上发声，或者上国务院小程序等平台留言情愿。
屁用不顶。
直到某天，一个业主爬上了烂尾的楼里，说要从上面跳下去。
他买的比我早，买这个房子是当婚房用的，结果现在婚都离了他妈的还没交房。
“快跳啊！”围观的业主在怂恿他，“这样房子的事情就有热度了！”

那人终究还是少了点跳楼的勇气，被警察拽了回来。
后来，警方加强了安保。
一段时间内，那片区域的警察数量，甚至比里面敲敲打打表演复工的工人还多。

也多亏了那位跳楼的哥们，房子的事情才能惊动相关部门。
相关部门把开发商代表和我们组织起来，讨论如何“自救”。
我们则喋喋不休地追问，买房的钱去哪了，被谁挪用了。
在座的一位领导终于没了耐性。
他说：人家那么大个企业，是国企，背靠国家，国家的钱花到哪里去，是你能问的吗？那跟你有关系吗？
以及：为什么别人买的房子没烂尾，就你们买的房子有问题，是不是贪便宜了？是不是自己脑子不聪明，老想占便宜？老百姓要多从自己身上找原因，别总什么事都推给国家，国家不可能什么都替你们背锅擦屁股……

我很愤怒。
我想把这些发到网上，但打开微博，才发现我已被永久封号。
微信也被禁言，几个维权群也无端解散。
终于知道这些年我为什么一直过得如此拧巴了。
因为我总是执着于搞清楚一些我不应该搞清楚的事情。
愤怒过后，我冷静下来。
随后我开始恐惧。

我是做文字工作的，我知道红线在哪里。
这些年，我看到过许多人因为一句话，甚至仅仅一张照片就被封锁。
继续纠缠下去，不光我自己，甚至可能会连累其它的合作伙伴跟着倒霉。
再加上我后来查过一些资料，得知这个小区前面几栋楼，已经有人因为组织业主维权被判刑入狱的案例……
我怂了。
我脑海里浮现出那天居委会的壮汉们，用锤子和电钻砸碎群租房家墙壁的场景……
小小蚍蜉，怎敢撼树。
有些事情是我惹不起的。

我还清楚一件事：不管房子交或者不交，每个月的房贷我肯定是要接着还的。
我得保住我的工作。
于是，之后群里再有任何的维权活动，我都不再参与，气得最后群主把我和我媳妇踢出了业主群。
属实是众叛亲离了。

经过这么一折腾，我干脆也放弃了回家发展的计划。
有天，一个台湾的编辑朋友找我，说我之前在台湾出的那本书卖得还行。
我很意外，那书是我以前在大陆出版过的作品集，引进到了台湾重新包装后出版的，我本对它不抱什么指望。
再一深聊，对方说其实东亚几个国家的文化和历史背景相似度很高，有许多可以做的事情。
他们建议我说可以多出去看看，例如日本，就是个不错的选择。
正好我媳妇有个朋友，疫情前和男友一起出去的，平时帮她在东京代购点衣服鞋子一类的东西，偶尔也会在网上聊聊在那边的生活。

于是那天晚上，我突发奇想，说不然咱们也去日本发展看看吧。
“行啊。”她又跟往常一样，不假思索地答应了，“那猫呢？”她问。
“也带着。”我说，“咱研究研究怎么运出去。”
“那房子呢？”她又问，“听说已经快交房了，这次是真的要交了。”
不要了，我说。

那些已经跟我们没关系了。
