I hear you, and I think something different happened in ancient times.
However, I don’t think a global flood happened because there is not enough water on Earth to cover all the land in a global flood but because so many ancient cultures remember something it shouldn't be completely ignored.
In her new posthumously published memoir, An Unexpected Life, Gloria Steinem devotes a few paragraphs to Velikovsky and how his ideas were suppressed.
Can't wait to share my interview with Steinem for Velikovsky's biography (conducted a few years ago) when she discussed Velikovsky's impact on herself.
It will be in the chapter called: Celebrity, Guns, & Sex-- OUT SOON.

Your post is entirely false. Every word of it.
Velikovsky met Freud just once. "Friend" is a stretch.
Velikovsky DISAGREED with Freud, who thought Moses was Egyptian. Velikovsky said Akhnaten was the historic prototype for the Greek's Oedipus (see the book title?). He did not believe Moses was Akhnaten LOL.
Velikovsky despised Freud's work on Moses so much that he set out to write a book called "Freud and His Heroes" as a rebuttal. He never finished it. But the Moses part eventually became "Ages in Chaos."
The book you have was not Velikovsky's personal copy. Every copy of O&A has Velikovsky's signature stamped in the front and back covers. All of mine have the same. It's not an autograph.
I hope you'll read my upcoming book, and actually learn something about Velikovsky.
@dougvalentine77 @AngletonOrchids@WireRacing Immanuel Velikovsky, a friend of Freud, concurred with Freud’s view, and went further, positing that Akhenaten was Moses. I’m pleased to have Velikovsky’s personal copy of his book in my library
“The suppression of uncomfortable ideas may be common in religion or in politics, but it is not the path to knowledge, and there's no place for it in the endeavor of science”—Carl Sagan
In 747 BCE, something strange happened across the ancient world.
Civilizations suddenly abandoned their 360-day calendars that had been used for over 1000 years.
What caused this global shift?
Here's the untold story of humanity's struggle to track time:
@fredvries Moving at the speed of the federal government. Have two outstanding FOIAs that the CIA has promised to fulfill no later than August of 2025. Or, they could answer any day.
To celebrate the first #EarthDay, Immanuel Velikovsky spoke at what is now the Parsons School of Design on 5th Avenue in Manhattan on April 22, 1970.

Knowing what we know about the eclipse and the science behind it, many still feel a deep sense of disruption when they encounter the unusual darkness it brings.
Now imagine the anxiety felt by the ancients as their lives suddenly plunged into darkness with NO UNDERSTANDING of the phenomenon.
They created new religions over it.

BOOK UPDATE: Our final request with the CIA remains outstanding and is approaching 2.5 years. Getting all our questions answered is crucial to the book, and in the meantime, we work to polish the other never-before-published information we have.

The language, the comet theory itself, sounds like something you'd read from a 1952 Harper's Magazine expose on scientific heresy
What is the difference, between excepting 12,900 years ago timeline-- and 3,500 years ago? The name attached, of course.

Just like Venus, the New York Times strikes again. No, it's not 750 BC- or even 1955.
This March 5, 2024 article lays out the field of comet strike theory- but with zero mention of #Velikovsky.

"The impact caused the ground to shake and the sky to glow... A hail of tiny molten particles sank into flesh and set forests ablaze. Soot blotted out the sun. Earth’s magnetic field wavered, and living things were bombarded by cosmic rays..."
Is that Velikovsky? No- it's the NY Times
Velikovsky was a polymath.
His mind was incredible.
It was obvious to everyone around him.

Velikovsky: A Life of the Ages
coming in 2024
Sagan and IV once met privately for more than an hour before the 1974 AAAS.
Eventually Sagan gave a faint bow to the problem that Velikovsky's theories were never fully run through the scientific gauntlet.
Their personal relationship is thoroughly explored in Velikovsky: A Life for the Ages
