With fundamental physics I feel like we beat the game in the 70s, and now we're just going back and collecting treasure chests (condensed matter and low temperature and plasma) and trying to beat the hidden superboss (quantum gravity)

It's insane.
3 for the price of one! You will learn Multivariable/vector calculus, linear algebra and differential forms in one place, with this ''Unified approach'' book by John and Barbara Hubbard, in my opinion, a masterpiece in pedagogy.
Written for the complete beginner, with a focus on worked out examples, an easy to read text which guides you throughout your journey, and probably the best introduction to differential forms and exterior derivatives that I've seen on paper (chapter 6 ), it would be hard for me to find a better starting point to these topics than this book.
I really wish I had known Hubbard's text when I had to learn vector calculus!
@garrytan Forgive me, I was the PM responsible for making the close button non-responsive, but another department was in charge of managing user preferences
LLMs are so powerful yet remarkably dumb. It accurately extracts tabular data-no easy feat- but flubs the trivial calculation.
It gets close (real answer: 2,193) which itself is uncanny. Why did it hallucinate something reasonable (vs. wildly off)??
