What I found particularly interesting about this game is how it plays within your computing environment spilling over onto your desktop like a more permeable magic circle. #RPGMaker2020
I finally gave Nathalie Lawhead's Cyberpet Graveyard a look hoping to get some ideas for my tamagotchi clone. In CG, you rummage through a uncovered digital artifact, a folder full of mystery and undead cyberpets. Not a JRPG there is some role playing involved...#RPGMaker2020
the game takes place directly on your desktop and you have the option to check out the accompanying files for each cyberpet. There are email screenshots, text files, and images unfolding the dark truth to the game. #RPGMaker2020
For the final project I created an https://t.co/hrJqcQDSDZ channel to contain all my references including games, music, art, and graphics that might inform the direction of my game.

Undertale isn't known for its graphical complexity but I did enjoy this subtle lighting effect. Very effective in creating a light source in an otherwise flat environment. #RPGMaker2020
Toby Fox used Earthbound soundfonts for many of the tracks in Undertale. I tracked down both a midi file of FFVII's fanfare and an .sf2 from earthbound. Here's how that sounds together. #RPGMaker2020

The first couple of tracks you hear in Undertale are chiptunes keeping with the lo-res aesthetic. When meeting Toriel for the first time Fallen Down starts playing giving you a glimpse at the enormous variety in composition styles. #RPGMaker2020
Much of the humor in Undertale reminds me of Earthbound in how it's self-aware employing many jrpg tropes. The dialogue is darker in tone. #RPGMaker2020
@NeuroSlasher@alligatorsky__@necropocene@AugustaPlays@circuass@kwandrus@lukesighwalker Took the time to play your game properly. As already mentioned by others, i enjoyed the reference to Sonic fandom and OCs, it really made me laugh. I was also curious if you made a switch for different dialogue as mentioned by Alex. Nice attention to detail
@alligatorsky__ Wholly unfamiliar with FFIX, I wasn't sure what to expect but i really enjoyed the backgrounds. They work especially because of Vivi's contrasting color.
@necropocene Very atmospheric and moody. I like the contrast between the environments and the player character allowing you to easily see where you are going.
@AugustaPlays This remake of Super Mario World felt like an excursion through the mushroom kingdom. I was able to appreciate the sprites without having to immediately jump on them to avoid dying.
@circuass From what I remember playing the original Patapon, there was a rhythm aspect where attacks or buffs are based on player input according to a beat. With the remake, Felix uses names.

Mega Man Battle Network: Encore is a remake of Mega Man Battle Network/.exe. Originally an isometric viewpoint my remake went with a top down approach.

Earthbound, the self-aware, at times surrealist rpg from shigesato itoi teaches you very early on its mechanics through npc dialogue. Here, kids at a library tell you about the difference between a green/black phone where you can call your dad to save the game. #RPGMaker2020
An interesting moment: After a Mr. Saturn tells you the password is to stand still for three minutes I was skeptical. Turns out I really had to wait for that amount of time...#RPGMaker2020
