Highly recommended talk by Julian @Togelius on RL in environments with procedural content generation. Julian's and Sebastian's (@risi1979) seminal work influenced a lot of our research at @UCL_DARK & FAIR last year, e.g. the NetHack Learning Environment (https://t.co/I5pyPWQNGb).
#fdg19 Now @rocanaan is presenting our paper "leveling the playing field", which is about AI vs human game competitions and fairness in those.
With @ChristophSalge@nealen and @togelius.
Paper is here: https://t.co/p4gCEmfcdh
Great thought-provoking first keynote at #cog2019 by @Richard_Bartle on ethical questions arising from sapient and sentient #NPCs. Considering games as realities within reality. And games within these games. Oh I have so many questions..
At the #cog2019 best paper session there's a really cute murder-mystery framework with emojis. The game generates a whoddunit with 3 suspects and 1 victim, using a modified Ceptre in Python with MCTS based on authored social norms for motives. Apparently also anger as a resource.
Thanks to our recent funding success, applications for IGGI funded studentships starting September 2019 are again open. Join the world’s largest doctoral training centre for research in games. Deadline for applications is 23:59 GMT on March 8 2019: https://t.co/rzACFDVmLl
