@BreakingTaps@joebarnard In addition to procrastination, I like to get inspired by watching other people's videos. And if I'm not inspired enough, I'll just watch a few more.
@TheBrianMcManus More than a few automotive channels I respect work w/ manufacturers and still put out legit interesting content that focuses on technical aspects of vehicles. And Chevy engineers from what I've seen are pretty hardcore. Esp the Corvette team. If you see an angle, take it.
This video by @smartereveryday should be required viewing for any #engineering student. Great concepts to think about in iteration, design, and #manufacturing philosophy, and kind of eye opening.

@Honda And long term, you can buy the HR-V battery tray and drop that in if you'd prefer a clean job. It's a weird design choice from Honda. ECU, clock, security system, etc draw is similar regardless of car size. And 151R is a rarer size than the 51R. Should've used it from the start.
Since buying an EV, I rarely get to do "car things" anymore. Buuut... My wife's @Honda Fit died from sitting on the curb for a few weeks at a time. The phantom drain, as a proportion of the capacity of a tiny 151R battery was causing deeper discharge than desired.
@Honda Reddit users have pointed out that all it takes is a simple Xacto knife mod of the battery tray to fit the larger battery. And now I'll have greater reserve capacity in the battery, self-discharge being equal. This is a recommended mod for ppl in cold climates. #HondaFit
@ElectroBOOMGuy@iamtomnash Or, because science should be repeatable, I would love to see people try to replicate this and fix the flaws they claim to see.
@BreakingTaps It's somewhat tolerable if you immediately switch to the Following tab instead if "For You", but the general vibe is definitely worse overall.
Damage caused to the Wing of one of only two Quebec-Based Canadair CL-415 โSuper Scooperโ Aerial-Firefighting Aircraft helping to battle the ongoing Wildfires across Los Angeles County, after it struck a Drone earlier today in Southern California, resulting in all Aerial-Firefighting Assets to be Grounded.
Saw someone complaining that the LA wildfires are wasting their time dropping 'Red Phosphorous' on the fires when seawater is right there.
Because of course, suddenly all the usual suspects are 'experts' in wildfire fighting.
The red stuff is Phos-Chek - that's a brand name

It's a formulation that does multiple things, the water helps put the fire out, there's retardants in there to make it harder for the fire to propagate, and fertilizers that will aid in regrowth.
Why is regrowth important? Because when landscapes have been scoured by wildfire it increases the potential for mud slides when the rains do come, the sooner vegetation gets a foothold the less chance there is of a secondary disaster like what happened in Montecito

Anyway, there's also federal rules about what kind of retardants can be used on federal lands, and that kinda forces local agencies to comply since they don't want to be swapping out loads depending on whether the fire is on federal, state, county or private lands.
