They have won and joined the MVP Lab program by @ntdpsa , receiving a grant of 150,000 Saudi Riyals (40,000 US Dollars) to support and develop their winning ideas. 🚀
Excited that a talented Ph.D. student Mohammed Aljohani @MDJEditing from my lab is presenting his work on a genome-wide C. elegans CRISPR library for DNA and RNP-based CRISPR editing for the first time today at the CSHL CRISPR meeting.
@ShahLabUCLA Thanks Pavak! Glad you got MosTI working quickly. We're scaling up the library integration approaches with the aim to find single-neuron promoters from oligo pools. Let me know if you have other applications you want to chat about.
😿Yesterday finished the Spanish Worm Meeting number VIII. #SWM2022
📶Our community is solid and the scientific level is rising.
🏅We were honored of hosting the Nobel laureate Andrew Fire and the superclass Christian Frokjaer-Jensen.
@CeronLab@idibell_cat@segenetica Great to interact with the Spanish C. elegans community - lots of exciting science going on. Many thanks to the organizers for a well-planned conference.
Very proud of Sarah AlHarbi (@SarahAlharbi_3), Ph.D. student in my lab and VP for Women in Science and Engineering Research at KAUST, for representing the university at Camp 2030 to work on UN SDG goals in New York. https://t.co/vZtK86vQZF
Interested in chromatin folding/SMC complexes/nuclear organization and want to move the Switzerland for a post-doc? Switzerland has its own Marie-Curie postdoc program (deadline 01.12). Reach out by email if you look for a host lab! @snf_ch
@farmgirlphd @Claycomb_Lab Congrats Julie & team! Thanks for the huge effort to make a reference. Oh, and @AGCharlesworth graphics really are beautiful. I am putting this panel up in the lab wall for reference.
1/7 Try our new app for optimizing transgenes for C. elegans expression (https://t.co/fFPIYVgnbB). The app uses algorithms from collaborators Henrik Bringmann (TU Dresden) and Dan Dickinson (UT Austin) - or codons from highly expressed ubiquitous genes.
@Jordan_D_Ward Yes, the idea was to combine all the different steps we'd usually do sequentially - and a few things that I found myself doing "manually".
@ShahLabUCLA Thanks Shah! We find that Dan's algorithm does really well if we combine with removing piRNAs. We didn't specifically add PATC introns (because they don't synthesize well) but we can add short introns with Golden-gate acceptor sites, if it's useful?
7/7 The app was developed by postdoc Amhed Vargas (code, https://t.co/JGT66JC0kw) and transgene expression tested by @sonia_elmouridi. We'll write up the details but let us know if you find any bugs or have feature suggestions (no promises!).
