@VSB39 P104 of this document (has a p.61 at bottom margin) says
Estimated useful life of a building = 40 years
Hmmm...#EdithCavellElementary is 98 years old and plan is to pour $15.6M into it?! In fact we have a portable that’s >50 years old

@janetrfraser Rebuilding #EdithCavellElementary instead of retrofitting a 100-year old building would increase energy conservation. The PDR confirms that @VSB39 would save $1.2M over 10 years with a New Build as opposed to retrofit. New Build = Common Sense. #GetSeismicRight@bcedplan
@andrea_coutu @tracysherlock#EdithCavellElementary told that schools nearby which are substantially under capacity are not suitable swing sites b/c they have district programs
Odd since vsb documents state district programs can be moved for kids in need of temporary accommodation close to home community
Seismic decisions now made without parent, teacher or trustee consultation by unelected Vancouver Project Office. Engineers working off @bcliberals policies. Why isn't @jjhorgan@Rob_Fleming changing this? Where's the oversight? #GetSeismicRight https://t.co/66X80PkNL3
@cavellparent@Rob_Fleming New builds = designed to be usable after a future seismic event. The basic seismic upgrades are not - would have to tear down & rebuild after an earthquake. Why pay more now for an upgrade that would just have to be rebuilt later? #EdithCavellElementary#GetSeismicRight#bcpoli
The Ministry of Education points the finger at @VSB39 for a lack of consultation. But who do you think insists that consultation not occur until after the decision is already made??? @bcedplan has shown no desire or leadership to #GetSeismicRight. They just want it done fast.
@tamarataggart This is about more than a bus ride. This is about wasting tax payer dollars and no one being accountable. It is about kids in the expanding Cambie corridor having no where to go to school #EdithCavellElementary#GetSeismicRight
