As clashes between protesters and Pakistani Rangers continue late into the night in Muzaffarabad, a torchlight rally is underway in Rawalakot—the epicentre of the nearly 150-day-long uprising—against the Pakistani military's presence and Islamabad's control over the region.

During the rally, local residents are displaying spent bullet casings they allege were fired by Pakistani security forces during the crackdown on protesters.

On 9 November, demonstrations are planned across Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to mark five months of the uprising and condemn the alleged use of excessive force by Pakistani Rangers and the Frontier Corps (FC).

Protesters are demanding the immediate and complete withdrawal of Pakistani military and paramilitary forces from the region.

What began as a movement for fundamental rights has increasingly become a broader confrontation over military control, civilian freedoms, and the region's political future.
