@RGinghina Recognizing the contributions approach stuck out to me in class yesterday. It was interesting to see how some teachers only focus on cultural elements when it has to do with holidays, or hero's. Some examples of this include, Women's history months and MLK Day. #EDUC200#03Sp22
@Baileyjmu2025 I found that learning about the parental participation was really important. Students need to have support and learning opportunities in and outside the classroom. This is why it is key for teachers to include parents. #EDUC200#03Sp22
@Emma95393099 I thought that today's class was interesting to learn about and reflect about our time in K-12 schools. It was fun to see how some of our teachers in the past used this strategy without us even realizing it. #EDUC200#03sp22
@HAYSchoolNorton @MissMarceau4 This is a great example of a productive classroom, using small groups and allowing students to talk about problems is a great way to learn math skills! It is also great that the teacher is walking around assisting her students. #EDUC200#03Sp22
@Katelyn_Starke Hi Katelyn! In class I was surprised to see that even though we seem to spend so much time in school, we really only get 333 hours of productive learning time. This is why teachers are forced to make decisions about what is most valuable in our curriculum. #EDUC200#03Sp22
Today in class we collaborated in groups to discuss which K-12 grade was the most pivotal. It was reveled that 3rd grade is the most pivotal. One statistic that I found interesting was, 1/6 kids who are not skillful readers in 3rd grade fail to graduate on time. #EDUC200#03sp22
@katewilsonn30 Hi Kate! I agree that this knowledge is going to be very useful in our profession. Now we will be able to confidently use APA citations and focus more on the content of our works. #03sp22#EDUC200
@lauraewassmer Hi Laura! I also enjoyed discussing the Scientific Management philosophy as well as Social Meliorism. I thought it was interesting how Paulo Freire believed that education should help students learn how to seek change in society. #EDUC200#03Sp22
Today our class collaborated on a timeline of the history of US education. We talked about different themes throughout history such as mental discipline where everyone who attended school was preparing for the clergy; Focusing on Greek, Latin, and mathematics. #EDUC200#03sp22
@sarcarr427 Hi Sarah! I like the point you made about the differences between men and women's safety. My group also talked about how most people have similar intentions behind biking, & traveling - for fun and because it is interesting. Yet humanity still treats some differently.
@aliviapalmer23 Hi Alivia, I agree that Disney employees understand the impact their job creates for guests. I also think that this demonstrates meaning because it gives employees a sense of purpose and makes them want to wake up and go to work everyday. #EDUC200#03Sp22
@katewilsonn30 Hi Kate, I agree that this is a good example of meaning. I also think that this demonstrates impact because he is aware of the risk but wants to continue his fathers legacy. #EDUC200#03Sp22
The New England Patriots clearly uses the Google norm dependability. They must trust that everyone does their own jobs in order to succeed. These norms clearly helped the Patriots as they won 6 Super Bowl titles in just 17 years. #EDUC200#03Sp22

#EDUC200#03Sp22 Today in class we discussed how Maslow's hierarchy of needs applies to a classroom. We found that in order for students to learn to the best of their ability, it is best when their basic needs are covered. I can never learn when I am hungry and this explains it.
