We learned about James Banks Approaches to Multicultural Education. The various approaches illustrate how teachers may incorporate diverse views and opinions into their lessons. This lesson taught me that it can be beneficial to weave varied cultures into lessons #EDUC200#03Sp22
@hrsparrow4 I enjoyed watching this video and seeing the way this teacher welcomed students with disabilities into his classroom. There is no set way to incorporate distinctive students in class, but I think this teacher did a great job helping them learn in this setting. #educ200#03Sp22
@oliviajfitz I agree, It definitely was a challenge! We found that certain categories, such as apply and analyze, were more difficult to come up with questions. This shows that we may steer towards one aspect of the pyramid, but we must keep an open mind to see the others. #03sp22#EDUC200
@oliviajfitz I also found it interesting to seek bias in unexpected textbooks! My group initially thought it would be difficult to find bias in science books, but as Ashley stated, the more we looked there was a lot of aesthetic bias to downplay the extent of certain topics. #EDUC200#03Sp22
Yesterday was so much fun engaging in student rotations working on ACAP Geometry and Measurement Tasks. A special thanks to the 2nd & 3rd grade teachers for working with me to make this possible for our students, YOU ROCK! #handsonlearningiswhatworks#engaging#creating#applying
@katewilsonn30 I found this lesson to be super useful in the real world. I have been using MLA format my whole life, so learning about a new citation format and the various ways it can be used will be beneficial for future opportunities. #03sp22#EDUC20
@katie__camp This activity was super beneficial to visualize the differences between each philosophy! It was also interesting to see that classrooms may incorporate various philosophies, rather than sticking to a single one. #educ200#03sp22
We discussed and distinguished between the 5 philosophies of education. We participated in an activity where we each drew out one of the philosophies and determined our classmates. This helped emphasize our understanding of each philosophy and how they compare #educ200#03sp22.
@ashley_clemenae I agree! Acknowledging not just those who have privilege, but those who lack it, is crucial. As a teacher it is important to recognize that each student comes from a different background. This significantly impacts the way they see the world, and can impact how they learn.
@EmilyLinck1 The google norm of structure and clarity is definitely present in this article! I also believe meaning can be seen here, as amazon states they are highly successful because of their “commitment to customer experience”. #EDUC200#03Sp22
@Baileyjmu2025 I believe this is a great example of psychological safety! Despite having such a large team of workers, Chick-Fil-A still manages to support each member as an individual. That is super important when working in a large community. Great Article!! #EDUC200#03Sp22
The google norm involved in this article is structure and clarity. It difficult to stay motivated and committed when working from home, one may lose focus on the expectations of the job. This highlights how to stay engaged even when working from home. #EDUC200#03sp22
Today in class we learned about Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. I thought a lot about how students run into problems with their education when they aren’t meeting those needs. A teacher’s ability to help fulfill those needs is one of the many roles they undertake. #EDUC200#03sp22
Today in class we participated in "Story Of My Name". This activity was not only fun and engaging, but helped create a better sense of community in our classroom! We were able to see below the surface of the iceberg and into our internal culture and beliefs. #EDUC200#03Sp22
