@luliu_fin@IMFNews@JuliaAFonseca Very cool! This is another example of why we need "Danish-style" mortgages where you can refi and sell your mortgage at the current PV (not just at par).
🚨 New Paper Alert 🚨
Q: How does the #IndustrialOrganization of mortgage markets impact real outcomes for borrowers?
A: Integrated intermediaries increase refis & fintechs gain mkt power
New paper joint w. @BuchakGreg and @veecy3401

#dkpol Remember when @BlackRock was driven out of CPH real estate markets by left-wing politicians for fear of gentrification. New research from @UniofOxford shows that institutional ownership actually increases rather than decreases neighborhood diversity.
However, (and this is a big one): "[institutional investors] extract value by challenging tax assessors’ valuations and thus reduce their tax bill." Important trade-off between tax revenue and diversity!
Happy to see the @ECB@Isabel_Schnabel acknowledge that unfunded deficits are a threat to price stability. The consequence that follows is clear: countries should have the right incentives to pursue fiscally sustable. Now they do not.
I'm hiring a Head of Retirement Behavior @Vanguard_Group! This is a senior role leading a global team with a huge investor dataset to deliver impactful research that will inform retirement policy, plan design, investment strategies, & investor behavior. https://t.co/VITzz0FgGc
New research from #JPMCInstitute on the timing of out-of-pocket health care spending suggests that households wait until known cash transfers hit their accounts before spending on health care. 1/
I can highly recommend this course for any aspiring financial economist. Great job @JohnHCochrane and @nonolochka for bringing it back! https://t.co/qJuf7iI3Qs
