@SarahQJ Use rubrics for everything that could be the slightest bit subjective. Have trouble with covering names digitally; did find a program called Eduflow that can let students peer review anonymously. Wonder if there are any other tech tools for this? #wuedt6020
In a post-modern world, education becomes a political battleground over issues like gun rights, revisionist history, transgender rights, and others. None of us are free of bias - it's human nature. So.... #eraofrelativetruth#wuedt6020#week6
@SarahQJ Awesome! All the department chairs (I head the science department) are reading We Got This by Cornelius Minor, I'll be using it later for equity conversations in department meetings. #wuedt6020
@MichJenks Yes! I use it for attendance for that class, so they all fill it out (or they get marked absent). It's been really helpful for our counselors, since they don't get to see students as much in our current setting.
@msg_esl Eduflow! Students submit work, then review each other using rubrics anonymously (the teacher can still see who reviewed who!). It's wonderful for peer reviews! Also recently turned a lab sheet into a Schoology assessment; 10/10, will do again! #wuedt6020
@AshleyDills1 I just learned how to use SMART learning suite to make interactive presentations; I love the group collaboration option; kids get put into groups and then work together, I can watch as they work. It's awesome! #wuedt6020
@TangyCordrey@SarahQJ I am always up front with my students about new tools; I think it's great modeling to show students how to problem solve and that we don't always know how something is going to work. Then we can celebrate successes together! #wuedt6020
I agree, Marissa! It's super helpful to talk with other teachers who have used the same tools. I also like to have another teacher added as a student in my class, so that they can be my "guinea pig." Even if they don't teach my content! #wuedt6020
@SarahQJ Ask for help or strategies! It's amazing to see how different teachers utilize technology in different ways - so definitely talking through the technology/struggle with a colleague, and then continuing to ask how they implement it in their classroom go a long way! #wuedt6020
@TangyCordrey I think that happens all the time; we are uncomfortable with the messy middle of learning a new tool and we give up too quickly. Talk about a lesson in perseverance! #wuedt6020
2 things: think about why. Don't use a tech tool just for the sake of it, make sure it matches your objectives and enhances the learning. 2nd, don't try to do too much. Start with just a few tools, get really good at them, before adding new ones. #WUedt6020
@ShineBrightKR@SarahQJ My admin has been amazing - they have hand delivered materials to students that couldn't pick them up. There have been some hiccups - kids forget things at the other parent's house, etc., but overall very successful. Have a lab tomorrow, as a matter of fact!
@MrsWarren182 I feel your pain! I have done some demos, but having students in break-out rooms prevents me from walking through the whole thing. I hadn't thought about pre-recording - I could make that available to all during the lab! Thanks! #wuedt6020#week3
@ZTemple5 @PleasantonSean@SarahQJ This is so true! I have students that I've never seen. Students have the same struggle; can't always tell me and Mrs. Johnson apart when they come in! Making a conscious effort to get to know students has had to be more deliberate than before. #wuedt6020
