I teach 3rd & 5th Special Ed in the Behavioral Support setting as well as Kindergarten & 3rd grade students who receive services in the Gen Ed classroom.
@PleasantonSean@farnan_sherri Can't wait to look this up! Another good/fun/last minute game is Blooket! It’s a racing game where kids answer questions and then can earn rewards...very engaging!
@ct55612 I have only used it synchronously so far...I don’t have much participation during asynchronous activities so I try to keep directions for them SUPER simple! #wuedt6020
@My116Dreams I have recently realized that u can incorporate Nearpod into your Google Slides!! #mindblown 🤯. If u have a Nearpod account, download the extension. The “add on” will appear in your Google Slides & u can add any activity from Nearpod into your slides!! UH-May-ZING🤩 #wuedt6020
@sowilmu This is such a hard question…automatically: I want to say, “I don’t” but obvi, that’s not the case…so, I create lessons online that can be done async. & sync. This way, if my kids join (online) late or aren’t “present” during Zoom, they can do the async lessons. #wuedt6020
@PleasantonSean I think it depends on the teacher/students (if they’re tech savvy)...but for me, I think I’ll keep the assignments/assessments online - it makes it SO much easier to grade them wherever I am instead of lugging them all home AND keeping a neater grade book #wuedt6020
@AmandaOberdick Oh awesome! My school has a Google Form as well (for teachers AND students) but none of my students ever fill them out. I like the idea of having them fill it out on Wednesdays - since we’re all online that day, they could all do it at the same time! #wuedt6020
@Rhenry_9 Oh, that’s a great idea! I feel like I’ve tried Peardeck, but this comment is making me want to go back and take another look at it. I’m liking the emotional checkin and definitely liking the interactive features you mentioned! #wuedt6020
@AshleyDills1 @msg_esl Yes!! I want to INTERact with them and not just act like a teacher regurgitating info - bc they are KIDS - they are not mature enough to SIT through instruction over a SCREEN! - that’s college level expectations; most def not elementary, am I right?! #wuedt6020
@AshleyDills1@farnan_sherri@LatchToni Here’s a link to one of my Jamboards - apparently my kids continued to “work” on it because slide 6/7 is ALL them - I had no idea until I just checked it in order to send the link! My kids are so creative and so fun! #wuedt6020
@AshleyDills1@farnan_sherri@LatchToni I also use Jamboard as an independent/collaborative activity! If you give a prompt (or already have the prompts on each of their slides) they can answer it by themselves and then check out each other’s responses too, and then comment their thoughts! #wuedt6020
@TangyCordrey YES! I recently found that voice recording on messages is the best way for me to convey my thoughts/announcements - I’m terrible with typing/making my words sound “pleasant” 😅 so I record my voice and send it to the parents! #wuedt6020
@PleasantonSean@hyperteacher93 SOO! Like I said I would-I had my kids watch a compilation of funny animals (btw how do u get kid friendly ones? I just searched "funny animals kids” but didnt know if u had other recs)& they LOVED it! (Its during lunch)& my cover said they were focused the WHOLE time! #wuedt6020
@PoliteTommie@SarahQJ Yessss that’s such a great idea! I like that it’s there for them to use, but they still have to do a little work to find it! Very clever 👏🏼 #wuedt6020
@PleasantonSean@hyperteacher93 Oh this is a FANTASTIC idea!!! I can’t wait to try this tomorrow 😂 My students absolutely LOVE YouTube, and besides watching “Looney Tunes” during lunch, I haven’t figured out good/appropriate videos for them to watch! Thanks 🙌🏼 #wuedt6020
@ct55612 I use Google Jamboard - it's efficient and convenient. Students can work on their own page or work together on the same page, or complete their work on one page and then check another person’s work by simply clicking through the pages. #wuedt6020
@ZTemple5 @McCoolWILMu Ugh, it DOES allow us to always work! A good thing and a bad thing😅 I think a lot of us tend to forget that it’s OK to not do work, especially since there’s ALWAYS work to be done. Idk about everyone else, but I’m never “done” planning 👀🤷🏼♀️ #wuedt6020
