This page is created for Amharas by an Amharan for the world. I am Nancy L. Mahaffey. I am a human rights activist & advocate for the Amhara people of Ethiopia.
TPLF supporters encouraging people to report journalists and human rights advocates they don't like because of political differences. They have not even provided any evidence for their claim.
While we have documented evidence where they openly disseminated genocidal messages against Amharas (similar to here: https://t.co/I8A6p9e0jN)
Amhara advocates really need to start seeing how the targeting is cross border, not even being outside Ethiopia saves you. Share the truth, only the truth shall set you free.
Mass killings. Displacement. Cultural destruction.
These are clear signs of GENOCIDE under international law.
Silence from global institutions is complicity.
Amharas deserve justice, not selective attention. @hrw@IntlCrimCourt@UNHumanRights@amnesty@Reuters#AmharaGenocide
Ethiopia: After several defeats of ENDF troops, waves of strategic drones have been deployed across the Amhara region, targeting civilians. They are being used like grenades
I am Amhara. Orthodox.
I am the mother who mourns.
The daughter who prays.
The brother hunted.
The sister violated.
Targeted for our name.
Our faith.
Our very existence.
They tried to break us.
They burned our villages.
They hunted our sons.
They violated our daughters.
More than 50 innocent people were killed and their homes looted by Abiy’s soldiers in Efratana Gidim, Shewa, Amhara, less than 300km from Addis Ababa. While Abiy acts like everything is peaceful and beautiful, Amhara blood is paying for his fake green corridors. #AmharaGenocide
🚨 Amhara Fano Accuses Ethiopia of Genocide, Demands AU Intervention
The Amhara Fano National Movement has formally petitioned the African Union to intervene in an ongoing genocide as the 39th AU Summit concludes today in Addis Ababa.
🌍 WHY IT MATTERS NOW
📍 Proximity of Violence: Reports indicate over 100 civilians were killed just 80km from the AU headquarters this past week, challenging the assembly’s silence.
⚖️ Call for Accountability: The Fano leadership is demanding an independent, international fact-finding mission to investigate war crimes and systemic sexual violence.
⚠️ Regional Stability: Allegations suggest the Ethiopian regime is using "diversionary foreign policy" to destabilise Sudan, Somalia, and Eritrea to mask internal collapse.
📈 BY THE NUMBERS
🗓️ Duration: The conflict is now entering its 3rd year (commenced 2023).
📉 Impact: Millions (m) displaced with a total breakdown of health and education systems in the Amhara region.
🔍 THE BIG PICTURE
As African leaders convene, the Fano movement describes a nation in fragment. While the federal government projects an image of stability in the capital, the Amhara people report a campaign of "indiscriminate bombardment" and "terrorisation." The movement asserts that the Abiy Ahmed administration has lost control of the majority of the territory and is now leveraging "unholy alliances" with foreign actors to maintain power at the cost of regional peace.
🛡️ KEY DEMANDS FOR THE AU
✅ Agenda Priority: Include the Amhara genocide in the summit’s formal peace and security deliberations.
✅ Humanitarian Access: Urge international communities to bypass federal blockades to reach millions (m) in need.
✅ Political Transition: Support the creation of an inclusive democratic transitional government to replace the current regime.

AEPAC Condemns Massacre of Ethiopian Orthodox Christians in Arsi; Calls for Justice and Accountability
According to a report released by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, unidentified armed groups carried out mass killings targeting Orthodox Christians in Eastern Arsi during October 2025 (Tikimt 2018 E.C.). The Church expressed its deep sorrow over the deaths of innocent believers and called on authorities to uphold the right of all Ethiopians to live and worship freely, without fear of persecution.
A BBC report highlighted the tragedy with the headline: “The family in Arsi where eight people, including a mother and her three children, were killed in the attack.”
Details of the Atrocities:
In its official statement, the Eastern Arsi Diocese of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church reported repeated attacks across multiple districts, resulting in the deaths of at least 25 Orthodox Christians, including children and the elderly. Among the incidents:
Between Guna and Merti Districts:
On the nights of Tikimt 14–15, 2018 E.C. (October 24–25, 2025), seventeen people were killed by unidentified assailants.
Sherka District (Hela Zenbaba, K/Arsema Area):
On the night of Tikimt 17–18, 2018 E.C. (October 27–28, 2025), three individuals were murdered while they slept.
Honkolo Wabe District:
Between the nights of Tikimt 18–19, 2018 E.C. (October 28–29, 2025), five Christians were killed.
The victims — ranging from infants aged two to elders of seventy-five — were targeted simply because of their faith.
Despite repeated appeals by the Church to local and regional authorities for peace and security, the Diocese reported that killings, property destruction, and persecution have continued unabated in parts of Eastern Arsi.
Church Appeals for Action
The Diocese, through Liqe Heruyan Tamrat Wolde, confirmed that the diocesan administrative council convened an emergency meeting on Tikimt 19, 2018 E.C. (October 29, 2025), reviewed incident reports from parish offices, and submitted an official report to the Patriarchate. The Church urged the government to take effective measures to safeguard the lives and rights of its members.
The Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has since called on national and regional authorities to engage seriously with the Church’s findings and to work toward a sustained and just resolution to religiously motivated violence.
AEPAC joins the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in demanding full accountability for the perpetrators of these heinous massacres.
We call upon the U.S. Government, Members of Congress, the United Nations, and global human rights organizations to unequivocally condemn these atrocities and to take urgent action by supporting the following measures:
An independent and transparent international investigation into the massacres;
Immediate protection for vulnerable Christian and other religious communities in Arsi and other conflict-affected areas;
Accountability for government and security officials who fail to prevent or respond to such atrocities.
