Today, our country director @NdiranguWanjuki joined state leaders and development partners to launch the Ksh 3 billion stipend to support 107,000 Community Health Promoters (formerly known as community health volunteers) across Kenya. Led by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, he acknowledged the vital role of CHPs in advancing primary healthcare under the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). He also reiterated the need for collaboration and cooperation by the counties for the initiative's success.

During his remarks, Dr Ndirangu lauded the government's commitment to prioritising primary health care, evident in the provision of 100,000 CHP kits and their strategic deployment across all 47 counties. #ICYMI, @AmrefInnovation, in collaboration with the @USEmbassyKenya, implemented an inclusive work readiness programme for youths in Kenya 🇰🇪 between January and August 2023 in Nairobi, Lamu, Nakuru and Mombasa. Over 250 individuals aged 18-35 underwent comprehensive training in digital proficiency, problem-solving, time management, effective communication, diversity, equity, inclusion, and CV writing. The programme equipped participants with crucial employability and digital literacy skills, fostering collaboration and a culture of mentorship.

We are committed to strengthening systems for primary healthcare at the community level, ensuring that the last mile communities have access to quality and affordable healthcare. In this regards, together with @MOH_Kenya and support from @GlobalFund, yesterday we commissioned and handed over the liquid oxygen bulk tank to Longisa Hospital, @036Bometcounty. On Saturday, 26th August 2023, @AmrefTanzania, in partnership with the @mohznz1 and @AbsaTanzania, hosted the “#UzaziNiMaishaWogging” (Walk-Jog-Run) initiative to support medical equipment and supplies for safe delivery in Zanzibar. The event was graced by the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, His Excellency Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi - @DrHmwinyi.

The event’s core mission was to create awareness about the existing gaps in the health sector and raise funds to support the government’s efforts in ensuring the availability of sufficient medical equipment and supplies for safe delivery in Zanzibar.
